Hi Willie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
About DJ Willie Trimmer
WILLIE TRIMMER – began spinning in the early 90’s U.S. Rave / Electronic music scene when he was only 15 years old. Graduating Savannah College of Art & Design with a BFA double major in Video/Film and Computer Art & double minor Sound Design and Art History. Following his artistic passion he founded 12inch Pimps Records, Agency 12, Jack’s House, Naked Sunday, Eden After Hours (co-founder) and Sun & Moon festival putting his mark on Texas and beyond.
Playing all styles of dance with a touch of turntablism, he’s had huge success as a local Texan spinning at some of Dallas’ top clubs over the years such as current hot spots Regines Lounge, Vice Park, Friends Only, Virgin Hotel, Statler, Jack’s House and classic spots like Lizard Lounge, Club One, Seven, Nikita, Plush, Eden, Levu, Avenue, House of Blues and countless other historical Dallas Clubs. Also playing all over the US as well as playing internationally including; Mexico, Japan, South Africa, Germany, Dominican Republic, Belize, Canada, Turkey and more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I grew up pretty poor with a single mother living off food stamps in a typical Texas trailer park and have been on my own since age 16 but still managed to graduate with Honors from Grapevine High School and get a full ride to SCAD. Life is never a smooth road but having a love for music & art has kept me moving forward. One of the hardest things i’ve gone through is our spot Jack’s House burned down from an arsonist in late Jan, while i was in the side room of the building, could have died. I’m good, alive, and Jack’s is on the path back. Especially from fundraising love from the local dance community.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
i’m an all around artist. I DJ, Produce dance music, throw parties, design the flyers & merch, run the social media accounts and host the party. I”m known for the party, but i’m probably proudest for being known for being stand up guy, doing what i say i will, and texting back in a time of ghosting, lol.

i’ve been listening to the Pete tong show for decades to find new gems. i listen / watch Star Talk with Neal Degrasse Tyson & Bill Maher’s shows religiously, pun intended. I get my news from comedy central’s Daily Show & Southpark, as well SNL’s Jost & Che. I get my philosophy from Yoda.
