Conversations with Zack Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Palmer.

Hi Zack, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My culinary career started 18 years ago when I got my first restaurant job out of culinary school working as a dishwasher. I fell in love with the speed and comradery of the kitchen and have been obsessed ever since. Working for many of the best chefs in DFW has given me the opportunity to create a small meal delivery service business for myself to showcase my humble culinary talents and support my family while doing so! My wife and I run the day-to-day operations, and have made many changes throughout the past two (plus) years, and have realized we still have lots to learn. With all of the crucial administrative work it takes to keep things running smoothly, there is no way I could have made it this far without her. That being said, we have found a new passion that we honestly had not seriously considered for ourselves until recently, and that is being business owner. We have watched our business grow organically via our wonderful customers, family, and friends spreading the word of ZPalm Kitchen. I believe there is a growing demand for this type of meal delivery service and look forward to offering up more delicious food while saving people time for the important things!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m not sure there is a smooth road to success (lol)! But seriously, since day one, it has been trial and error – leaning on my culinary & hospitality background to guide us when something hasn’t worked the way it needs to. That being said, I underestimated the amount of time that would be spent on social media networking and growing. Running a meal delivery service takes more than just good food – it takes a lot of self-promoting, client interaction, and research!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I was gifted my first Big Green Egg when I started the business and fell in love with the kamado-style grill. I decided to build our business around these smoky BBQ flavors and create a revolving weekly menu that I could integrate live fire cooking and BBQ techniques into. I attribute these techniques to much of the business’s success. So, in short, we are known for our ever-changing menu – providing our customers with a variety of meal items each week with that delicious Texas BBQ smoke flavor!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
