Daily Inspiration: Meet Abraham Khan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abraham Khan.

Abraham Khan

Hi Abraham, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, this all started as just a solo music project, just writing and recording music and putting it out. Everything else I do was kinda born out of necessity. For example, I needed album art/promo material for me music, so I starting designing my own stuff, and I needed to spice up my live shows, so I started teaching myself to do live visuals so it would be less boring. Once I started meeting more musicians and artists, people started reaching out to me to design things for them or do live visuals for their shows, and over the last couple of years, things grew to where they are now.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m happy to say that my experience within the music scene has been pretty smooth. Everyone here in the DFW scene (and beyond!) is so welcoming and eager to help each other out for the most part. My biggest setback has probably just been not being able to do this full-time. There’s been many times where I’ve had to prioritize my day job over playing a show or working on a project. But hey, that’s just what you gotta do to keep the bills paid and fund all of this.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
So, I, as “Attic Space,” kinda started as just a musician, but this has grown into a sort of multifaceted project. In addition to being a solo musical project and playing in a couple of other bands, I also do lots of graphic design work for shows, posters, and album art, and then the thing I’m probably most known for is doing live concert visuals. I’d say that’s the thing I have the most confidence in, the place where I can be sure I have something cool to provide, and the thing people come to me for most often.

What’s next?
I’ve been spending some more time lately reconnecting with the music side of this project, so I’ve got a new album on the horizon with my band Bubby, as well as a new solo album that’s in the works right now. So, I’m looking forward to getting some new music out as well as continuing to push the design/visuals side of things as much as I can and see where that goes.
