Daily Inspiration: Meet Adoriyun Hannah Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adoriyun Hannah Johnson

Hi Adoriyun Hannah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story began when I enrolled in a dental assisting course in high school. By the time I graduated, I was a registered dental assistant at 17 years old. I spent the next few years working with HIV/AIDS and pediatric patients while pursuing my undergraduate degree at The University of Texas at Dallas, where I earned my B.S in Healthcare Studies and a Certificate in Biomedical Sciences. During my time in college, I joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., to expand my ability to give back to my community on a larger scale.

As I waited to be accepted into dental school, I decided to explore something completely different. I taught myself how to create epoxy resin art, make Cricut crafts, and even design sculptural wall art. Over time, I figured out how to blend these different forms of art to create new, meaningful masterpieces. I embraced these hobbies not only for their creative outlet but also to sharpen my patience, attention to detail, and manual dexterity; skills that will serve me well in dental school.

Along the way, I began sharing my journey on YouTube and TikTok, where I taught others what I had learned about epoxy resin and Cricut crafting. Through this, I built a supportive following that encouraged me to keep creating and sharing. I’ve gotten to where I am today by staying consistent and embracing the eagerness to learn something new every single day, whether it’s a piece of information or a new artistic technique.

Now, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted into Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., and will be starting Fall 2025! I’m ready to embark on this new chapter, where I’ll combine my passion for healthcare, art, and learning to make an impact in the world of dentistry.

My love for art has shown me that life itself is a canvas, and I’m the artist. No matter how difficult the piece (or life) may seem at the moment, it always works out to tell a beautiful story. Thank you, God, for guiding me through this journey!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey in both dentistry and art definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride. Let’s talk about the struggles I’ve faced in the art world first. When I first started doing resin and Cricut crafts, I made a lot of mistakes—wasting materials, money, you name it. I’m self-taught, so everything was a learning process. I’d see something cool on TikTok or YouTube, grab the materials, and try to recreate it—only to fall short. I wasn’t great at first, but I learned so much from every single piece. That’s when I really learned the importance of adjusting techniques to fit my personal style. And that lesson didn’t just apply to my art—it’s something I carry with me in my personal life and in my career. Life is all about adapting to new situations and learning from every experience, no matter how messy it may get.

Now, as for my dental journey… it’s been a lot more challenging than I imagined. I was rejected three times, dismissed from a post-bacc program for missing one point, and had to retake my entrance exam four times. I’ve faced a lot of setbacks, and there were moments when I thought about giving up on my dream of becoming a dental anesthesiologist. But through it all, I had to remind myself that God moves mountains. I knew He wouldn’t have placed this passion in my heart if He didn’t plan to bring me through it. Even in those hard times, I held onto my faith and trust in His plan, and I’m so grateful that I did.

Looking back now, I realize that every challenge taught me something important, and each one brought me closer to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an artist, and my primary focus is epoxy resin art. I’m known for creating custom domino sets, memorial pieces, and coasters. But what I’m most proud of is the resin memorials I create for families who’ve lost a loved one. There’s something truly special about being able to freeze a moment in time for them, using dried flowers and other sentimental items, so their loved one can always be with them in a meaningful way.

What sets me apart from other resin artists is how I make the process personal for each client. I invite them to be part of the journey by sharing their story with me. I take their memories, emotions, and the essence of who that person was, and I translate that into something beautiful with my art and imagination. It’s not just about the final product—it’s about the emotional connection and the meaning behind every piece.
