Daily Inspiration: Meet Adrian Richard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Richard.

Hi Adrian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I created Dreamz mirror, when I was doing an experiment with my kids. I had each one of my kids to stand in front of a floor mirror one by one. While I stood on the side where they could only see themselves in the mirror. I began to ask them what do they see in themselves to help build their self esteem and for they can try in picture themselves as whatever they want to become. I thought about buying costumes and letting them stand in front of the mirror for they can see themselves in that career. I believe if a child can visualize themselves as that they can become it. So I thought huh, it would be cool if it was a floor mirror that can change you into different careers, encourage you and keep family and friends together no matter where they are located in the world. Then I began to create Dreamz mirror to help with mental health issues and symptoms.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, I have been discouraged a lot trying to get a new invention/ product to the market. I thought since my product has been patent “Granted”. It would have been easier to get investors or companies to help me bring it to market because it’s such a cool product with a purpose. Unfortunately, I had got scammed before, I had a patent lawyer that tried to steal my patent, and I had a company that supposed to built me a working prototype, but they scam me and used existing apps that’s already out. I have spoken with an investor that wanted majority of the percentage, when I spoke with lawyers they were saying that wasn’t a fair offer. So I have been funding my product on my own and that’s why it’s taking longer than plan, but I’m a firm believer that God placed this invention on my heart and God will see it through. I will continue to have faith and keep trying, one day I will receive that “Yes”.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been working in the medical field my entire life. I always had the heart to want to help everyone I can. I use to work for UT Southwestern medical center as a technician and as much as I enjoyed helping my patients. I wanted to make a difference in my community, so I went to school for psychology for LPC. I work now at METROCARE as a QMHP where I work with clients that have mental health issues and experiencing homelessness or substance abuse. I love my job because I can see the impact that I’m making in their lives. I believe what set me apart from others is that I take their problems homes with me and I try to figure out what I can do or what resources I can provide to help them get back in their feet.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love the Bible app called Bible Chat. I used this app when I want to explore the Bible and try to figure out things that I don’t understand and need guidance from God!
