Daily Inspiration: Meet Aimee Rodenroth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Rodenroth.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of North Texas in 1991. In 1992, I began my career in public education as a dyslexia teacher with a local school district, where I served for several years.

Committed to advancing my expertise in structured literacy and dyslexia intervention, I became a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) in 2006. In 2018, I further expanded my professional qualifications by earning my Qualified Instructor (QI) certification through Southern Methodist University.

In 2021, I transitioned from public education to serve as a subject-matter expert in dyslexia for an educational technology company. During this time, I also collaborated with the Texas Education Agency as part of a team responsible for delivering virtual teacher training in a state-approved dyslexia curriculum.

In 2022, I founded Dyscoveread Dyslexia Services in Aubrey, later relocating the practice to its current location in Prosper. Dyscoveread provides comprehensive services including teacher training, parent advocacy, dyslexia assessments, and therapeutic intervention for students. The practice has grown to include a team of six therapists dedicated to supporting students with dyslexia and related learning differences.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The transition into private practice has been both rewarding and professionally fulfilling. While launching and growing a new business presents its challenges, the process has largely been smooth and affirming. As a business owner, I am enthusiastic about expanding our reach, building meaningful relationships with families and educators, and continuing to serve our community with high-quality, evidence-based dyslexia services.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am very proud of my training as a CALT-QI that Dyscoveread offers. We currently train teachers to practitioners or to therapists to offer the “gold-standard” of dyslexia remediation. I love hearing success stories of our dyslexic population!

Additionally, I am part of the podcasting team, “The Dyslexia Duo”. We have had our podcast since May 2024 and have interviewed huge names in the field of research. Currently, we are ranked in the top 5% of all podcasts.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Although I was very shy and naturally introverted, I always felt a strong calling to become a teacher. Even at a young age, I was especially drawn to reading and writing and understood the profound impact literacy has on a child’s confidence and future opportunities. While public speaking and leadership did not come easily to me, my passion for helping students develop strong literacy skills consistently outweighed my hesitations.

Over time, I learned to view my introverted nature not as a limitation, but as a strength. It allowed me to listen carefully, observe closely, and build meaningful one-on-one connections with students—qualities that are particularly valuable when supporting children with reading and writing challenges. My early desire to teach literacy ultimately shaped the trajectory of my career and continues to guide my work today.
