Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Chávez.

Alejandro Chávez

Hi Alejandro, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hello, everybody! Well, I’m a Mexican graphic designer and comic book artist. I got into Design since 2012, when I was in high school, studying at IPN. Two years later, in 2014, I started college at INBAL-School of Design, and it was such a great experience! But it wasn’t until 2021 when I really began to focus on comic books because that year, I was studying at Videogames Academy, where I learned about Game Design, Character Design, and Storytelling. That’s how I began creating my comic “O’CLOCK NOIR,” and let me tell you, it has been a cool journey!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes and no, hahaha. Ok, first of all, I have enjoyed doing what I love to do in life: creating and illustrating stories. I have had so much support from my family, and I have been teaching English & Drawing lessons to make money while I work on my comic. Of course, it has not been easy; it takes a lot of patience to promote the project since I’m doing it all by myself: writing, drawing, posting, and publishing, but it’s amazing how much I have learned about comic industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I truly believe that creating stories and drawing is what I do best, and I feel really happy when I’m doing it; that’s why my comic is the project that I’m most proud of. My work is defined as colorful and retro, it’s part of my personality, and that’s the beauty of being an artist because you show the people who you are; you show them worlds created by you. So, I really hope everyone enjoys “O’CLOCK NOIR,” it is about time travel, friendship, romance, and a lot of action in a film universe following the adventures of Alex, Amy, and Shigeru.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now, I have two goals, and the first one is the most exciting! Okay, so my first goal is to show my comic at Comic conventions; I have already started, and everything is going fine. The second goal is to start working for an important animation studio or something similar next year (I’m improving my resume). I’ve been working a lot over the past few years, and I feel my greatest opportunity is coming!
