Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Art of Barbering goes back thru many Generations, as I being a 2nd Generation Barber was pretty much in my DNA Whether i wanted it or not. Self Disciple of A Taught Trade that will never go away an always have an Needed by Many People around the World. Being Consistent, Dependable & Having great, good or a Vibing character of people is what has kept me Thriving Grinding & Successful to this Day. 6 years Ownership since 2020 Covid Pandemic. Many many years of Service in Different Communities, 2 Awards Appreciate Certificates, Top 5 of 10 Barberahops in my Community & Still going after a World Shutdown literally.
Blessed to be a Professional Barber, an more Bleseed to be in Ownership after 2020 when many shops close down & barbers in there Garage back where we started from..At that time GoD sat down alot people at that time on in more ways than ever, 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽Blessing to.others that have lost others, as only the Passion for my Craft Elevated to helping others with every small amounts to Big Favors in Giving back only has brought me this far🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💈.
So I am truly blessed.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Wow has it been a smooth road, Not sure if I can recall it ever being smooth. In March 2020 the World shutdown, an Barbers where they last to get the call to stay home. Now in a Pandemic Crisis of People & Passovers🙏🏽🙏🏽 & satying safe.
I am blessed & Fortunate to come from behind the chair of paying booth rent to ownership over night was good, but rough
Comes with alot of Obstacles, Late night & Execution to an LLC Building LICENSE, Remodeling, electrical work , Plumbing an it keeps going etc. To now a completed shop to open up with no one in the building but me, plus 1 barber weeks after done. Not what i expected barely getting by, but staying the course. An in ownership in this era is & was & still a Learning curve. I have been,, well I should say it has been 10 Barbers that walk thru the door wanting the help, asking for the help & looking for a shop to grow in. But neither worked out, Once again new in Ownership an this was just really mind blowing to me. My era was straight Grinding regardless of whatever or whomever & be there everyday no appts for straight walk ins for service. Finding or wanting Barbers has not been a easy task, So definitely it hasn’t been a smooth ride at all. But I stayed on the course Built my Clientele An stayed motivated,positive & determined to Be Successful in a a Field now an in my Community where there are Barbershops everywhere. So my only Competition is & 8was myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Being a Professional Barber as time has passed Prices have changed, Hairstyles have changed Barbers have been forced to Pivot & Adapt to many different changes. So as a Barber i make sure i attend Hair Seminar Classes, Barber shows of different Unique ways of cutting& Styling hair. So being Educated about the field helps out alot an also brings more Clientele being knowledgeable in the Profession that i am in. Helping others with Styles an Consultation with Herbal Growth & Shampoo services. Services Cancer Patients, an others of Medical issues that lost there hair, to give them a cut to feel sooo much better to where no amount i could be given to feel that feeling to make them feel better. So being in the know in revolving industry that steady changes of Hairstyles keeps me sharp…
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Favorite childhood memory is Sandlot Football in the front yard
The sideline was the Sidewalk. The Flowerbed on the other side close to the homes was also the sideline. Would probably be my best childhood memory an yet So many others.
