Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Hebert
Hi Alicia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
– fresh out of highschool I was unsure of my future career
– Graduated at 16 and working retail minimum wage of 7.25/hr
– My mom was determined that I was meant for the beauty industry just like herself
– My mother is a pmu artist but I had no interest in that!
– I wasn’t really interested in the beauty industry, I thought there’s so many people who do that already!!! How would I get my own clientele?
– I was enrolled into an esthetician school
– It took me about a year to complete my 750 hours and get licensed!
– I received my license at 17 and wished for the best for my future!
– My parents , mainly my mother helped me start out my business by giving me some space in her salon “Tinted beauty” to set up my things and get my business running
– While running a business I was also a full time college student
– And expanding my knowledge in the beauty industry to become a cosmetic nurse
– I was constantly posting on social media, I started off taking clients with a small fee, and slowly raising my prices as I grew in my business
– I attended many classes with certifications to expand my knowledge to offer more services to my clients and supporters
– What I can say is family and friends can really get the word out! I’m extremely grateful to have such good supporters on my side! I wouldn’t be here without them <3
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
what was a rough start in my esthetician career was the school, being the youngest best one there was rough!
Also considering it being an all Spanish school was also a rough experience for me with the education. I sometimes had a hard time comprehending some material and unfortunately no one could help explain because I was the only bilingual one there.
When it came to my hours I was having a hard time completing them due to me also being enrolled in college full time, it did held me back a little but I still got it done!
When it came to my state exams I wasn’t really as confident for my practical because I really breakdown under pressure, I was horrified that I was going to make a mistake.
The hardest part throughout my whole journey, is building up your business and clientele. It took me about 2 years to get to where I am at today, the word of the mouth goes a long way!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an esthetician so I specialize in waxing, lash extensions, facials, and brows!
FYI- Waxing is my fav!
I’m proud that I’ve come a long way at a young age, what sets me apart from others is how much time I put into my marketing!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
At the moment, I love following other estheticians like myself! It’s never to late to educate yourself.
