Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Villalobos.
Hi Angelica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It’s been about 6 years going on 7 years since I’ve started my business. I just had my oldest daughter in 2015, just graduated high school, teen mom not knowing what to do next. The struggle of trying to find a babysitter, not trusting daycares, etc. While her father worked full time, I was at home with our daughter, knowing I needed to do something while being able to care for Leila. I’ve always been such a crafty person, the thought of planning birthday parties, decorating all that fun stuff was all me, that’s when I decided to purchase my machine along with all my other materials to get me started, and from there in time there was no stopping, there was times where I thought what am I doing? Nobody is going to support me. I’ve always been the type to jump into something, and always start something else shortly after. I’ve started my business from a corner of our apartment, wasn’t much space at all but wasn’t stopping me from doing what I loved. 2017 I had my youngest daughter Leah, still going strong with my business, building up my customers, starting up business pages, and continuously sharing my work, even when you think nobody sees your posts because nobody is sharing there is someone always watching. You believe in yourself and keep pushing. As a team we moved into our house, I now work out of a room we turned into my office and just seeing how far I have come. offering a lot more services staying crazy busy with orders now, just so thankful for being able to support my family from the comfort of my home. Still to this day I have only grown, and expanded my business with wonderful customers, returning customers, future customers the ones who haven’t purchased yet but always supporting sharing my posts, etc. I’m thankful for them all! The best feeling is getting a new customer and them saying “I was referred from so and so” just makes you feel like you are doing a great job. Your biggest supporters are going to be strangers. There’s so much competition out there, but I strongly believe there is enough in this world for everyone to make it, there’s enough money, customers, support, to go around. I’ve also helped other small businesses get going too, answered questions, shown how to work their machine, etc. You won’t see a lot of people doing that, but I’d love to share what I do. 2021 Has been a crazy year, I’ve learned, and grown a lot with my business. Which has turned into my full-time job, I’ve started hosting events with other small businesses, made friends, listened to other stories, and can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for me and my family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is not always easy, when I started, I wasn’t sure how to do anything, get customers share my work, grow my business, etc. Some of the struggles I’ve had would be how do I get people to buy my stuff, learning the new trends or what’s popular at the time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started with Making T-shirts, Banners, Party decor and expanded with making tumblers, coffee mugs, phone cases, hats, etc. I would have to say tumblers have been my top sellers, and what I specialize in. I do still get a lot of orders for everything else, but my tumblers are what I’m most known for now, this Christmas I sold over 74 custom tumblers. I’m proud of all my work, and the fact someone else buys my work to gift or to even keep for themselves.
What does success mean to you?
To me, success is about setting goals and doing everything possible to achieve them, When I reach my goals, whatever they may be I feel like I’ve done something right.
