JP Auto Collision began as an extension of our existing mechanical shop, JP Euro. As owners with a passion for cars, we noticed that many of our customers would frequently ask for referrals to body shops. However, we realized that not all body shops provided the level of quality and attention to detail that we believed in as perfectionists. It was this realization that prompted us to open our own body shop, where we could ensure that every vehicle was treated with the utmost care and expertise.
In the beginning, starting the business was undoubtedly challenging. We faced various obstacles, including the lack of a reliable customer base. While some customers from our mechanical shop came to us for their collision repair needs, we recognized the importance of expanding our reach and attracting new clients. We understood that building a reputation for exceptional service and craftsmanship would be crucial in establishing ourselves in the industry.
During our early days, we encountered a setback with the Direct Repair Program (DRP). This program, aimed at streamlining processes, did not align with our commitment to providing personalized customer care and focusing on quality over quantity. We found that the DRP emphasized getting as many cars in and out as possible, which did not align with our vision. Consequently, we made the decision to take matters into our own hands.
To improve our expertise and enhance our services, we began taking online classes and pursuing certifications in collision appraisal. This allowed us to gain in-depth knowledge of the industry, develop a keen eye for assessing damages, and accurately estimate repair costs. By becoming certified appraisers, we not only gained the trust and confidence of our customers but also solidified our position in the market.

Despite our passion and experience in the automotive industry through our mechanical shop, transitioning into the bodywork sector presented its fair share of challenges. The road was far from smooth, and we encountered several struggles along the way.
One significant hurdle we faced was the stark contrast between mechanical work and body repair. We had to learn the intricacies of the collision repair process and navigate the complexities involved in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition. It took us time to fully understand the nuances of bodywork, from the meticulous craftsmanship required to the artistry of paint matching.
Another obstacle arose when we decided to participate in the Direct Repair Program (DRP). The emphasis on fast turnaround and meeting specific requirements undermined our commitment to providing personalized customer care and prioritizing the highest standards of craftsmanship. As a Vietnamese woman in a male-dominated industry, I had to constantly prove our reliability and capabilities. Breaking through preconceptions and stereotypes, we showcased our attention to detail and consistently delivered exceptional results. Building a reputation from scratch required perseverance, a steadfast commitment to outstanding service, and overcoming gender and cultural biases.
Through our unwavering dedication to excellence, we shattered barriers and gained the trust and respect of customers and industry professionals. Finding individuals who shared our passion for perfection and possessed the necessary expertise in painting, buffing, prepping, and bodywork proved to be a challenge. We knew that our success relied on the collective skills and dedication of our team, so we persisted in our search until we found the right individuals who aligned with our vision.
In 2023, recognizing the need for a new direction and a fresh start, I took charge and revamped our body shop. I undertook a series of improvements, including fixing up the office space, repainting the walls, and refurbishing the entire facility. These updates not only enhanced the overall aesthetics but also created a welcoming environment for our customers, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our business.
Despite the hurdles we faced, each struggle became an opportunity for growth and improvement. We learned valuable lessons along the way, refining our processes and strengthening our core values. Our journey has been one of continuous learning and evolution, and we are proud of how far we have come in establishing JP Auto Collision as a trusted name in the industry.
