Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Nicole.
Hi Ashley , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely! My journey to owning 139 Olive wasn’t exactly traditional—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve always been a builder at heart. I’ve built businesses from scratch, sold a few, and rebuilt again. After spending years in the beauty and event industries, I found myself craving something more intentional—something that created space for people to gather, celebrate, and connect. That’s when the vision for 139 Olive started to come into focus.
It was during a season of transition that God placed this idea on my heart—to create a beautifully designed space that could serve as a blank canvas for others to bring their dreams to life. I wanted to build something that felt personal, purposeful, and inviting. I had no idea at the time how needed a space like this would be, especially for women hosting showers, birthdays, intimate weddings, and creative events.
But like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had my fair share of detours. From navigating a pandemic that shut down my previous locations to reimagining how I do business altogether, I’ve learned that the key is staying obedient to the pivot—trusting that every setback is actually a setup. That mindset is what got me to where I am today, and 139 Olive is a product of that faith and resilience. It’s more than a venue—it’s a vision that came to life through a whole lot of prayer, hard work, and a deep desire to serve others well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The hardest part, for me, was letting go of the vision I thought this space was supposed to be.
Originally, the plan for 139 Olive was to use it as a place to rebuild my beauty brand—not for services, but more for workshops, education, content creation, photoshoots, and collaborations with other women in business. That collaboration piece still stayed close to my heart, and honestly, it’s still part of the mission today. But the way it all unfolded? Completely different than I expected.
God shifted the entire vision—and that was tough. I had to release control and surrender the idea I had built in my head to step into what He was really calling me to do. That kind of pivot takes faith. It’s Isaiah 55:8-9 in real time: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
Shutting down the business I thought I was going to rebuild here and stepping into something that wasn’t tied to beauty at all felt like a major risk. But every stumble in that season ended up being a step forward. God was reworking the blueprint. And now, 139 Olive isn’t just a venue—it’s a place where stories are celebrated, milestones are honored, and women are still being empowered… just in a way I never could’ve planned on my own.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At my core, I’m a creative. A builder. An artist with a business mind and a whole lot of faith. My work spans across different mediums—event design, branding, strategy, and storytelling—but the common thread is this: I create spaces and experiences that empower women to show up fully as who God made them to be.
One of the most special pieces of my work right now is 139 Olive, a boutique event venue in Keller, TX. What started as a solo project became a family venture, and I’m so proud of that. I eventually partnered with my mom, and having her alongside me has been such a gift. She’s the ultimate customer experience queen—detail-oriented, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in every single event we host. Her presence allows me to focus on what I do best: the business development, marketing, and creative strategy behind the brand.
And of course, my husband has been a huge support behind the scenes—helping with logistics, setup, maintenance, and being my sounding board through every pivot and big idea. It truly takes a team, and I’m grateful that I get to build something meaningful with the people I love most.
What sets us apart at 139 Olive is that it’s not just a space—it’s a heart-centered experience. We’ve created a venue that feels intentional, elevated, and welcoming. Every design choice, every client interaction, every event we host reflects our passion for serving others with excellence.
I’m most proud of the impact—watching people come alive in our space, celebrating life’s biggest moments, and knowing we played a small part in that. It’s not about perfection—it’s about purpose. And I truly believe that’s what makes our work different.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Whew—just one? There have been so many. But if I had to choose the most important lesson, it would be this: You have to be willing to let go of what you thought it would look like in order to step into what God is actually calling you to do.
For someone like me—someone who builds, dreams, and plans for a living—surrender doesn’t come naturally. I’ve had to learn the hard way that clinging to the original vision can actually keep you from the breakthrough. Whether it was closing businesses I poured my heart into, pivoting into something completely different, or trusting God in the silence—I’ve learned that obedience will always take you further than ambition ever will.
Another big lesson? You don’t have to do it all alone. For years, I wore all the hats and tried to carry everything myself. But building a team—especially partnering with my mom and having the support of my husband—has taught me that there is power in collaboration, trust, and shared vision.
At the end of the day, I’ve learned that success isn’t about perfection—it’s about purpose. And purpose requires faith, flexibility, and the willingness to take the next step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.
