Daily Inspiration: Meet Autumn Scott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Scott.

Hi Autumn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The creative drive started in 2021 when I picked up my first paintbrush. I’ve doodled here and there my entire life, but I never tried painting. It was right after the onset of my spiritual awakening that led me to paint. As I continue to look at life in a more positive aspect, I continue to view visions in my mind that HAVE to be seen by many, as a collective.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road by far. I have had family members, that I felt close to me, that have trash-talked my work. I have “given up” more times than I can count. Once the self-doubt rolls in so does the creative block. I have learned to silence the voice of others and do what makes me happy whether the next person agrees or not.

For instance, one of my siblings came to my home and insulted my art and how “cartoony” it looks. I took everything off the walls, doubting my abilities, and creative drive. I told myself I could never do realism, yet in October 2022 I’m creating more and more realism paintings. “Their criticism is their opinion, not your testimony.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in spiritual art. My style of painting does not appeal to everyone. It takes a different perspective to understand the detailing and fine prints throughout my art. Each canvas has a message that is understood depending on your journey.

I enjoy mixed-media canvases. I add real elements from our daily lives to transition the canvas to a dynamic form of realism. I have canvases with real hair, waist beads, glass, and flowers. Adding the additional elements gives the canvas life.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I use Pinterest and my friends on Facebook for plenty of inspiration. I find beauty in the smallest of things. I may see a butterfly on Pinterest and a beautiful woman on Facebook and boom there’s a message needed to be said.
