Daily Inspiration: Meet Beth Gandy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Gandy.

Hi Beth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started painting professionally when my children were still young. I painted both wall murals and children’s portraits for several years. I took many art classes and workshops during that time frame. About 12 years ago, I transitioned to painting contemporary abstract work using figures as my base and starting point. I now enjoy painting larger work the most.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I doubt many artists can say it has been a smooth ride. I feel like I have always painted and I have been incredibly blessed with my art. I still feel like I am constantly learning, growing and changing things up. The quote from Derek Fordjour sums it up the best, ‘Artists are people who work hard to get lucky’.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I paint with strong oil colors and brisk movement and brush strokes. I would say my use of color and color combinations sets me apart. I typically paint large pieces starting with a 40×40 size canvas. I am most proud of the fact that people enjoy what I do. Van Gogh only sold 1 painting in his lifetime, I can’t imagine not having positive feedback to reinforce my work.

What’s next?
I plan to never stop painting and I hope my art will always connect with people. I am constantly looking for new places to expand to around the country.
