Today we’d like to introduce you to Blondie Lane.
Hi Blondie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story started when I divorced in 2002. I was a stay at home mom when the divorce happened. I had no money, no job or marketable skills, I had five children ranging in ages from 15 to 9 and also not a reliable car. During this time I was on assistance from the State
I took a job working at a clinic delivering food to clients making $6.87 an hour. From there at the same clinic I worked my way up and became the social service case manager, and eventually I was no longer needing assistance. God blessed me to become self sufficient.
During this time I enrolled in college and took a few classes a semester and graduated in 2012 with my associate degree in Sociology. In 2024 I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tarleton State University.
GURLfriends Int’l) a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit (GURL) stands for God understands relationship letdowns was birthed through this struggle to empower other women that they can make it against all odds.
GURLfriends Int’l FACEBOOK page encourages women and have recently started a Morning show on FACEBOOK where I interview different individuals from realtors, authors, cancer survivors, single parent that foster and adopt and homeschooling moms, to empower other women.
God brought my children and I through that rough time in our lives and all are married except one who is waiting for the right one before she says I do, I have 10 grandchildren and more to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road, some of the struggles were finanical, rearing boys as a single parent but thank God they had some great role models in their grandfather and uncle.
Navigating single parenting while working, all school activities, staying a close knit family, maintaining eating dinner together and creating traditions like every Sunday cooking a big meal and everyone gather around the table after church and eat. Most importantly holding them accountable.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently retired. I am known for empowering women, and teaching women how to pray for their children. I have a FACEBOOK Live Monday mornings praying for the listeners children and schools.
I am most proud of traveling abroad on a mission trip to Guadeloupe and being able to share the gospel. Publishing my first book a prayer journal, “GURLfriends God Understands Relationship Letdowns.”
What set me apart from others my love for God and others, living an integral life.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was getting a brand new 10 speed bike for my 12th birthday from my dad. I was the only kid on the block that had one. He is deceased.
