Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Dang
Hi Brandon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Noodz is not your average DJ. Seamlessly blending techno, house, and trap with hard-hitting rap vocals, Noodz delivers high-energy sets that have taken the DFW music scene by storm. Whether he’s opening for artists like Yetep at Stereo Live, Borgore, or Carlyle, or headlining his own events and with Gone Rude, a DJ trio with Dallas own Loverboi and Mursa, Noodz continues to fuel his journey with relentless energy and passion.
“Growing up in DFW, my love for electronic music came from watching countless YouTube sets of my favorite artists. I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of,” Noodz says. His journey officially kicked off in 2018, when he got his first DJ controller. “I spent hours in my bedroom perfecting my mixes, uploading them to SoundCloud, and eventually started playing at college frat parties and local bars. That’s really where it all began.”
The path to success, however, wasn’t immediate. Like many DJ’s and artists, 2020 brought uncertainty. But for Noodz, it was also a turning point. “It was the year I finally broke into the DJ community. I owe a lot to Lextra from Pulsation Nation. He gave me my first big opportunity, and from there, everything changed.” From playing at clubs and events like Sunset Sessions, Green Light Social, Village Beach Club, Green Elephant to Stereo Live “it was a journey that started all from the bedroom and I wouldn’t have imagined where I’d be playing today and it has been the best years that I’ve had.”
One of the biggest challenges Noodz faced early on was networking. “I struggled with it a lot in the beginning. But once I started showing up and meeting and supporting the local scene, things shifted. Meeting and getting to know the talented DJs and getting to know each person and making friends in Dallas scene was game-changing for my career. I couldn’t expect for doors to automatically open and went out and met the people I call friends today.”
in 2023 Noodz’s network grew to include some of DFW’s own. One such connection was with Holly and Roland from Prime Night Cult. “Holly believed in our vision, and with her support, ‘Gone Rude’ was born.” Gone Rude, a dynamic trio made up of Noodz, Loverboi, and Mursa, has quickly become a force in the local scene. “We wanted to create more than just a collective—we wanted a movement and an experience you can consume. Our sets combine everything from bass house and trap to techno and dubstep, creating an intense, high-energy experience every time.”
With Gone Rude, Noodz and the crew have been hosting events across the Dallas area, from Carrollton’s K-Town to downtown Dallas. “This year has been the busiest we’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Noodz says proudly. “My calendar is busy, but I always remind myself to keep grinding. If I don’t put in the work, someone else will. The key is to always DJ for the love of it—because when you’re doing what you love, the hustle doesn’t feel like work.”
As 2024 progresses, Noodz shows no signs of slowing down. His focus remains on growing his brand, expanding the Gone Rude movement, and continuing to make waves in the DFW electronic music scene. His advice to aspiring DJs? “Never stop chasing your dreams. Keep the grind going, stay true to your sound, go out and meet fellow friends and DJ’s in the community, and most importantly, have fun with it.” – Noodz
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey was anything but smooth, with countless hours playing in the bedroom, I never thought I was going to make it out of the room and SoundCloud, but I stuck with it and met some people along the way who helped my journey start. There were months where I wouldn’t DJ, and questioned myself “if this was going to work for me?” just waiting for an opportunity to open. But as time went on, I soon realized networking was going to be the biggest benefactor for my career, and as the years went on getting to meet the promoters along the way, it has opened doors I never thought would happen.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets DJ Noodz apart is his ability to fuse diverse genres—techno, house, trap, and rap—into high-energy, genre-bending sets that captivate a wide range of audiences. Noodz seamlessly integrates rap vocals into heavy-hitting techno remixes and bass-driven trap tracks, creating a unique sound that keeps crowds on their toes.
Beyond his music, Noodz’s dedication to the community plays a major role in his journey. He has built his career by staying grounded, supporting local artists, and forming genuine connections in the DFW scene. His willingness to experiment and push boundaries while remaining approachable and connected to his roots distinguishes him from other DJs. Additionally, the vision for the collective “Gone Rude” showcases the passion for not only music but also building a movement that encourages collaboration, creativity, and energy.
Noodz’s perseverance and focus on creating an inclusive, high-energy atmosphere in every set, combined with his dedication to evolving his sound, make him a standout talent in an ever-evolving electronic music landscape.
Some notable shows that I have been honored to be part of are:
– Open support for Yetep at Stereo Live Dallas
– Sunset Sessions
– Green Light Social
– Boiler Roof
– The Village Beach Club
and etc.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Something I wish I knew coming out was going out and meeting people in the same community. Networking is the one key essential skill that you will need to practice outside of the craft itself. This will allow you to book your slots and pitch yourself as a DJ breaking out. Another thing I wish I did sooner was just posting more on SoundCloud and socials. Stop being afraid if it is good enough and just post your work!
