Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Jones.
Hi Brooke, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my love for photography at a young age when I would tote around my GoPro to every event or trip that I attended and I would always make little recap videos to hold on to those memories. From there, it struck my love to save memories. I never wanted to forget my experiences! I began modeling in Highschool and took it all the way through college and still find myself in front of a lens every now and then.
There was a bit of a switch when I noticed that I was always trying to get behind the camera too. I fell in love with weddings and I actually thought I wanted to be a wedding planner, which led to a 3-year journey of pursuing that career. Throughout that journey, I finally realized I could not only help Brides prepare for their wedding days, but I could also be their photographer. I got so much more joy from being the person that could capture sacred moments as big as their wedding days that they would save and look at for a lifetime. I love to create, capture and cultivate memories, and that’s what my wedding photography business is all about.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth ride to get to the point in my business that I am at today. I wanted to quit and change plans so many times. I went through so many other career options while thinking that I wasn’t good enough to make it in this world of wedding photography. It is a very competitive world, and comparison is truly not just the thief of joy but also a detriment to your confidence in your work and your future. I finally began to allow my faith in God to carry my burdens of comparison, self-worth, and worth in my skills, and I opened up my truest potential. I love to learn and grow so I know that my story is definitely not over. It has only just begun!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional photographer specializing in weddings and couples. I am known for being a professional dancer and skater for the Dallas Stars and a professional photographer who shoots true, authentic moments that couples experience. I am most proud of the relationships that I have cultivated in all of my different business endeavors.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My ability to talk to anyone and be authentic has lead to the majority of my success. People find a friend in me easily, and that is one of my main goals.
