Daily Inspiration: Meet Brooklen Farley & Morgan Goree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooklen Farley & Morgan Goree.

Brooklen & Morgan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Creating an alternative wellness brand has been our dream for the past year or so. Although we hope to start a holistic bodywork practice offering massage therapy, chiropractic, and energy work, we thought it was essential to create a digital community first to show people alternative ways to be kind to their bodies.

Since launching Kind Body Therapy on Instagram in November 2021, we see just how important it is for us to use this virtual wellness hub to educate people about holistic body maintenance through simple self-care tips, bodywork, and energy work.

For the last five months, we have featured content promoting the importance of holistic homeostasis—also known as maintaining a healthy balance between mind, body, and soul. We showcase a range of small practices, from stretching and meditation to cupping and massage therapy to positive affirmations for the mind and soul.

Promoting this kind of self-compassion is meaningful work to us, especially as young people representing the Black community in the wellness industry. We hope to educate and inspire others in our community to engage in preventative care for their bodies through Kind Body Therapy—online and off.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating and producing for Kind Body Therapy has been challenging at times because it takes patience as we try to foster organic growth for our community. It can be hard to see the engagement numbers fluctuate, especially in these infantile phases of the brand, but we have learned the importance of trusting the process despite the numbers we see now.

These moments have taught us to have faith in our vision and always put out content created from the heart; it will always resonate with the people who need it most.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Morgan is a student of chiropractic at Parker University, while Brooklen is a licensed massage therapist currently working at Vivian’s Boutique Spa in Lower Greenville.

Brooklen specializes in deep relaxation massage which engages the parasympathetic nervous system and allows clients to release chronic tension as well as mental stress that has been stored in the body.

Together, we take pride in working to be of service to our community and their bodies. We are proud that we have chosen to pursue careers in alternative wellness at a time when folks are constantly under stress and feel pressure to push past the pain to keep grinding.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Brooklen’s favorite childhood memory is when she was preparing for the 4th-grade talent show and her mother, Ellen, helped her practice for weeks. The day before the show, her mom stood in the living room while Brooklen stood in her room with the door closed. She asked Brooklen to sing so loud that she could hear her from the living room. This taught her to be confident in her voice.

One of Morgan’s fondest childhood memories is the day he met his first dog, Max. It was his 10th birthday and he was surrounded by the playful warmth of family and friends. Max was a scruffy and curious young beagle with a nose for mischief. Max quickly became Morgan’s favorite gift that day and later–his newest best friend.
