We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Before becoming a news anchor in Baton Rouge, my journey was shaped by a series of obstacles that tested me in every way. When I left Houston to attend the University of North Texas, I was carrying the weight of grief—having just lost my grandfather before starting school. That loss was heavy, but I was determined not to let it break me.

Not long after arriving in Dallas, I developed severe health issues due to an allergic reaction to a common Texas dwarf tree. It affected me physically and mentally, and there were moments when the discomfort felt unbearable. But I pushed through—because I knew I had a purpose to fulfill.

During my time in college, I often felt overlooked. I watched as others were chosen for screen time and opportunities I believed I had worked just as hard for. It was disheartening, but I refused to let that define my worth or my future. I kept showing up, kept improving, and kept believing that my time would come.

At one point, I even considered walking away from TV altogether. But one professor saw something in me and reminded me of why I started. That encouragement reignited my drive, and I made the decision to stay the course.

Now, as a news anchor before the age of 25, I look back at those challenges with gratitude. Every obstacle—grief, illness, rejection—taught me resilience. My story is proof that even when you feel unseen or underestimated, your perseverance can open doors no one else can close.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a news anchor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I have the privilege of doing more than just delivering headlines—I help tell the stories that shape our community. Every day, I step into the newsroom with a commitment to inform, uplift, and represent the people who trust us to bring them the truth.

My job involves much more than reading from a teleprompter. I pitch stories, conduct interviews, write scripts, and work closely with producers to craft impactful newscasts. Whether I’m covering breaking news, spotlighting local heroes, or digging into issues that matter most to our viewers, I take pride in being a reliable voice in a fast-paced, ever-changing industry.

One of the most rewarding parts of my career is connecting with the community—whether it’s through school visits, mentorship programs, or just listening to someone’s story that deserves to be told. I understand the power of representation, and I don’t take lightly the responsibility that comes with being a young, Black woman in this field.

Broadcast journalism is challenging, but it’s also incredibly fulfilling. Every day is a new opportunity to grow, serve, and inspire—and that’s what makes this more than just a job. It’s my calling.
In my spare time, I’m also a entrepreneur of a luxury sourcing company where I provide ladies the opportunity to get their hands on brand new designer items for prices they can afford, and I work with luxury brands all across the world @placarddeluxe on instagram.

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness, for me, is found in the simple but meaningful moments that make life feel full. Traveling gives me a sense of freedom—I love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories that remind me how big and beautiful the world truly is.

But no matter where I go, nothing compares to the joy of spending time with my family. They are my foundation, my greatest support system, and being with them reminds me of who I am and where I come from. I also cherish moments in church—it’s where I reset, refocus, and reconnect with my faith. My relationship with God grounds me and gives me strength for whatever life brings.

I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by people who genuinely love me—whether it’s laughing with close friends or enjoying a quiet moment with the ones who know my heart. At the end of the day, it’s not about the spotlight or success—it’s about peace, purpose, and love. That’s what truly fills me up.
