Daily Inspiration: Meet Cassy Huddleston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassy Huddleston.

Hi Cassy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
It all started with me wanting to take photos of my kids to document their milestones. My husband bought me my first DSLR camera. I had no idea how to use it so I watched as many YouTube videos I could on learning Manual settings. It then grew into me wanting to take photos of friends and family to practice learning the settings. I then booked my first session a month later and here we are 2 years later. I’m constantly learning new shooting techniques and editing skills. There’s so much that goes into photography, it’s really not as simple as point and shoot. I really enjoy creating photos of special moments.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, no not at all. I’m sure every photographer says this, but imposter syndrome will really get the best of you some days. There are definitely days where I think my work is complete garbage. Comparing myself to other photographers has always been really difficult for me. That’s when I’ll put together a creative shoot just for me. I’ll ask a friend to model, go to a cool new location and create golden hour magic.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a natural light, lifestyle photographer. I specialize in Families, Couples, Seniors & Boudoir. I’m also starting to shoot weddings. I shoot a little bit of everything though; I like to keep it interesting by giving myself challenges and expanding my services. I’m most known for being able to capture beautiful light and sunbursts. I really love golden hour so whenever there’s good light, I’m taking full advantage of it! I’m most proud of how much I’ve improved and grown over the past 2 years. I’m completely self-taught.

What matters most to you?
When it comes to photography, the thing that matters most to me is connection in photos. I’m not looking for you to just look at me and smile. I want to show you what I see when you interact with your loved ones. The candid photos will always be my favorite.
