Hi Cindy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Kawaii Candle Company emerged in 2020 amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As an Occupational Therapist in a nursing facility during one of the most difficult years of my career, I faced the heartbreaking loss of many patients. To find solace and healing, I turned to candle-making, creating unique sculpture candles as a creative escape.
What began as a collection of five candle sculptures has since blossomed into a captivating assortment of over sixty distinct designs. Each candle reflects not just artistry, but also resilience and hope.
As Kawaii Candle Company continues to grow, I am excited to explore opportunities for expansion, from online marketing and collaborations with local artisans to hosting community workshops. I am passionate about sharing my creations and connecting with the vibran
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout my journey with Kawaii Candle Company, I have faced numerous challenges that have shaped my experience as an entrepreneur. The emotional toll of working as an Occupational Therapist in a nursing facility during the pandemic was immense, as I coped with loss and grief while trying to channel those feelings into creativity. The transition from passion to business also presented a steep learning curve, requiring me to master everything from materials and techniques to marketing and inventory management. Financial strain was a constant concern, particularly as I made initial investments in supplies during such uncertain times. Balancing the demands of my professional responsibilities with the growth of my candle business tested my time management skills and stamina. Furthermore, gaining visibility and building a customer base in a competitive market took perseverance and dedication. Despite these struggles, each challenge has fueled my passion for Kawaii Candle Company, and I am grateful for the journey and the opportunity to share my art with the community.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets Kawaii Candle Company apart is the personal touch and emotional connection behind each piece. My background as an Occupational Therapist informs my approach to candle-making, as I strive to create products that bring comfort and happiness to others. Many participants in our candle-making classes have shared that the experience is therapeutic and a refreshing alternative to a night out at a bar. Engaging in hands-on creativity provides a fulfilling escape, and I believe that’s a significant reason our sneaker candle painting classes have become such a tremendous success. People crave meaningful experiences where they can express their creativity while fostering connections with others. In my classes, we cultivate that environment, allowing individuals not only to create but also to build a vibrant community.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I want to give heartfelt credit to my circle of friends, particularly my group of creative girlfriends. Their talent and passion have always inspired me, and I often found myself yearning to be part of that creative world as they shared their experiences designing for well-known companies. When I made the decision to start my own brand, their unwavering support made all the difference. They not only encouraged me to pursue my passion but also provided invaluable guidance and resources along the way. Thanks to their encouragement and belief in me, everything came together seamlessly, and I truly appreciate having such a wonderful support system in my journey with Kawaii Candle Company.
