Daily Inspiration: Meet Clementine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clementine. Her team shared her story with us below:

Clementine

With roots in New York and Florida, Clementine now has an art studio based in the Knox Street neighborhood of Dallas. Her work takes her internationally as she sources inspiration, shoots photography, and discovers stories in need of awareness to integrate into art. This mixed media artist’s exhibition history spans cities such as Brussels, New York City, the Hamptons, and Milan.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons she has learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a female contemporary artist, she has forged a path to create meaningful work despite industry preconceived notions and physical health limitations. For example, in pursuit of fine art, she has had to build a swing in her studio to paint parallel to a canvas despite struggles with her spine. Her perseverance has been a profound commitment to the higher purpose that her work serves.

Can you tell our readers more about Clementine’s work and what sets her apart from others?
Clementine creates an array of art across series, from figurative to abstract. Inventive in her use of materials, she explores how to convey meaningful messages in impactful ways. Most notably, she reflects society’s obsession with social media in a series of plexiglass painted overlays that are a reverse-engineered reflection of the swappable image filters found on social media platforms such as Instagram. She uses social symbolism contrasted with painted imagery as a call for society to awaken from self-imposed filters of selective seeing and autopilot scrolls.

If we knew Clementine growing up, how would we have described her?
Clementine has produced art since her youth. Originally self-taught, her style was later formalized and augmented by a liberal arts education. She holds a B.A. from Boston College, with additional studies at Parsons School of Design and Harvard University.
