Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Orozco.
Hi Daniela, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It started with a hat. I was drawn to them from a young age, and that instinct grew into a career spanning over a decade in the fashion, Western hat, and accessories industry.
I trained under highly respected industry veterans, with brands such as Stacy Adams, Biltmore, Larry Mahan, Stetson inl. and customers lie Dillards, Cavenders, boot barn, Macys, building my foundation in design and product development while supporting both U.S. and international markets. Along the way, I worked on projects with major customers and global vendors, sharpening my understanding of product, branding, sourcing, and storytelling.
Today, I work independently helping brands design, develop, and source products more directly and transparently. I also represent and collaborate with established brands such as Cuadra, Corral, Los Tigres del Norte, and Carlos Santana, in specific territories bringing together craftsmanship, culture, and global reach.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my experience, anything truly rewarding rarely comes easy. My path hasn’t always been smooth, between the early learning curve, finding my place in a very traditional industry, and growing into my expertise over time. Those challenges shaped how I work today and strengthened my commitment to doing things the right way.
As a woman and a minority, there were moments that required extra resilience, especially early on. That said, I’ve always felt the industry itself has been incredibly generous and noble to me. I’ve been fortunate to work with people who value respect, talent, and integrity, and I’ve tried to treat everyone the same way.
Every challenge became a lesson. Those bumps led to deeper knowledge, stronger relationships, lifelong friendships, and a level of confidence that only experience can build. Looking back, I feel grateful, those moments didn’t slow me down, they positioned me to move forward with clarity and strength.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
One thing that sets me apart is how I show up once a project starts. I’ve seen many people in this industry who are great at talking and selling ideas, but struggle with follow-through. I may not be the loudest voice in the room, but I take full responsibility for the work I commit to and my clients know that when they work with me, projects get finished.
I take ownership from start to finish, including when challenges come up. Instead of pointing fingers, I focus on solutions and accountability. That mindset comes from how I was raised, in a family where responsibility, honesty, and keeping your word mattered. I carry those values into every project and every relationship, and that’s something clients consistently recognize and appreciate.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Yes! I mainly turn to podcasts, especially when I’m driving long distances to visit customers. I turn toward content centered on business, leadership, faith, and self-confidence, as it helps me stay grounded while continuing to grow professionally.
Outside of “work”, one of my favorite creative and business driven hobbies is house flipping. I genuinely enjoy renovating, decorating, and transforming spaces balancing creativity with budgeting, timelines, and profitability. In many ways, it mirrors how I approach my career: seeing potential, improving what’s there, and building value through thoughtful decisions.
