Hi Danyela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, I embarked on a journey to explore my passion for interior design by accepting pro bono projects for family and friends. These initial projects became a testament to my talent and dedication, as they received high praise and generated valuable word-of-mouth recommendations throughout my network. The positive feedback and growing interest in my design approach convinced me that my aesthetic vision could resonate with a broader market of clients seeking personalized interior solutions.
Encouraged by these early successes, I took a calculated leap of faith and formally established DM Aesthetics Interiors & Decor in 2022. As a Texas native with strong regional connections, I bring both local sensibility and sophisticated design principles to each project. My educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff (completed Fall 2014) and a Master’s degree from Texas A&M University, Commerce (completed Spring 2017), both with specializations in Business Administration, Management, and International Business—credentials that complement my design expertise with solid business acumen.
DM Aesthetics Interiors & Decor has now been operating for nearly four years, during which I’ve significantly expanded my portfolio, refined my signature style, and developed specialized expertise in residential and boutique commercial spaces. The experience I’ve gained since launching has been invaluable, allowing me to streamline my design process, build relationships with quality vendors and contractors, and develop a deeper understanding of the Dallas-Fort Worth interior design market. My combined business education and growing design experience position me uniquely in the competitive interior design landscape of North Texas.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my interior design business was never a smooth journey. I’ve hit plenty of bumps in the road from going months without stable income or consistent clients to navigating the complexities of establishing a recognizable brand in a saturated market. These challenges taught me valuable lessons about perseverance and adaptability in the competitive Dallas design market, where client expectations are exceptionally high and trends evolve rapidly. Through these difficulties, I’ve gained insight into exactly what my ideal clients need—personalized attention, distinctive aesthetics, and transparent project management—and how to position my services to meet those demands effectively.
The obstacles I faced revealed critical gaps in the Dallas interior design marketplace that my business is uniquely positioned to fill. By experiencing firsthand the inconsistencies in client communication and project delivery that plague many design firms, I’ve structured my business model specifically to address these pain points. My journey through these challenges has equipped me with a deeper understanding of the local market dynamics and allowed me to develop service packages that directly respond to unmet needs in the Dallas residential and commercial design segments.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
DM Aesthetics Interiors & Decor embraces the rich diversity that Dallas offers, from our eclectic client base to the variety of design professionals working throughout the metroplex. We appreciate how this cultural tapestry provides endless inspiration and opportunities for our design practice. However, we’ve identified a significant gap in the local design community—the lack of meaningful collaboration among interior designers in the Dallas area. This absence of professional partnership opportunities represents both a challenge and a strategic opening for our business model.
While Dallas boasts a thriving design scene, we’ve observed that many interior designers operate in isolation, missing valuable opportunities to share resources, complement skillsets, and deliver more comprehensive solutions to clients. This siloed approach limits the potential for innovation and exceptional client outcomes that collaborative efforts could produce. Our business is uniquely positioned to address this market gap while benefiting from the diverse clientele and design perspectives that make Dallas such a vibrant market.
