Daily Inspiration: Meet Dariel Embry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dariel Embry.

Hi Dariel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory
I began my fitness career at a weight loss transformation center. Focusing on primarily boot camp, HIIT, and CrossFit style workouts, I provided a wide variety of clients workouts of different levels. I went in as a client and soaked up as much information as I could. I continued to learn from all the trainers and staff and they asked me to get certified and they’d let me start training some classes. I am now certified through TR-X and NASM. I have my CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) and CES (Correct Exercise Specialist) certifications and currently working on CNC Certified Nutrition Coach) and PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist). I also teach Xtreme Hip Hop, which is a new spin on traditional step aerobics. Combining step and modern hip hop music provides an intense yet enjoyable cardio workout.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A lot of the struggles I’ve faced have been with those attempting to prevent me from reaching my potential and excelling to new heights. That’s what led me to an entrepreneur lifestyle and I have no regrets in where things have taken me. As far as clients, I’ve been truly blessed with the people who have gravitated towards me. They genuinely want to see me succeed and they show it. I haven’t had any issues with getting/keeping people and in my profession, that’s the bread and butter. No people = no business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, boot camp instructor, and Xtreme Hip Hop Instructor. I am known for my boot camp workouts, but as of late a lot of people are finding out about me through my Xtreme Hip Hop step aerobics class. Creativity is what sets me apart from others. I have a knack for seeing things differently from others so I am always able to see one piece of equipment multiple ways. This leads to more enjoyable workouts as you never know what I’m going to come up with next. This also keeps people engaged and prevents them from being bored. The same applies to my step aerobics class. I consistently introduce new routines in class to keep my customers guessing and not getting accustomed to what’s going to take place in class on any particular day.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Well, this is easily the most difficult question in this interview because there’s way too many good memories to think about. I can’t think of my absolute favorite but ONE of my favorites has to be the first time I went to a haunted house. It was my Godbrother, cousin, another good friend of mines and myself. None of us had ever went to a haunted house before and we all decided to go to cutting edge. For some strange reason, LITERALLY EVERYONE who worked at this haunted house decided to pick on us lol. They literally chased us up until we got to someone else who could chase us. We’d be chased, then they’d stop so would calm down and keep moving then, of course, we’d turn around and they’d be right there again. Part of the rules of a haunted house are no running but who are we kidding we ran, and we ran a lot lol. There was one point in the haunted house where there were blacklight and there were like four drummers covered in blacklight paint. They had to start playing the dopest beat I’ve ever heard live, then the lights started flashing to go with the beat, and of course, we started to spit a few bars (rap). So many laughs came that night that I’m sitting here laughing just thinking about it and writing this. Sigh, where’s a time machine when you need one.
