Today we’d like to introduce you to Dayna White.
Hi Dayna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Truthfully, I’ve always loved art of all forms- painting, drawing, dancing, music, fashion, writing, design, theater, and the list goes on. So, photography was just something I picked up and was instantly hooked. I am a 7 on the enneagram and loved the fact that I get to work with people, really, really fun people of all types to create magic. I am a mom of two baby girls ages 1 and 3 and we have our third child arriving late January. The gender is unknown. So, picking up something that started out as a passion and quickly turning it into a hobby wasn’t easy. My husband is a country music artist and travels majority of the month. Balancing family (the most important thing to me), friends, my faith, and then a career didn’t come easy. I couldn’t have done it with the help of my mom. She helps me so much with my kids and sees how much I love what I do. Her and my husband are my biggest supporters and encouragers. I taught myself everything I know. I never took a photography class. My insanely talented friends who are also in the industry have helped me to get me to where I am today, two of which being Haley Ringo and Dre Joseph. They are the best of the best.
Within my first year of doing photography professionally, I shot close to 150 sessions plus 18 weddings, a decent amount of those being travel weddings. With our new baby coming so soon, I am wanting to stick around town more next year just for his or hers first year. I have 8 weddings already booked and am going to be capping out at 15-17 weddings. (undecided)
Instagram has been a huge platform for my business. It is how I run my entire company.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Thankfully, it has been seamless. There have been tiny bumps along the way, like having kids and trying to figure out how to juggle both a business and being the best mom Christ has called me to be all with a husband who travels often. But, outside of that my style came extremely natural to me. I know what I like and I am not afraid of trying new things with my work. I have even dabbled in video here and there and would love to get more into it in the future when I have a little more time on my hands.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in weddings, portraits, and lifestyle photography. I love studio work!!! The Lumen Room Plano is my favorite natural light studio to work at and Lit Photo Studios in Addison is another great blank space I love to get creative in. I have done newborn sessions and family sessions but have found that is not where I feel the most creatively challenged and typically only do those types of shoots for friends and family. I have shot a birth before and loved it. I love extremes, so either raw candid emotion or styled shoots where you get to take your time on posing an individual.
I would describe my style as bright, vibrant, fun, flirty, pops of color, but still holding a soft, timeless feel.
I love my clients and brides!!!! I want them to feel so comfortable with me to the point where they are open to try new things or just be able to fully be themselves in front of my lens.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
JESUS!!! I give myself a lot of grace and also give my clients lots of grace. I rely on Him daily to fill my cup and help me through the day, especially the long ones.
