Today we’d like to introduce you to Elissa Pace.
Hi Elissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey as a wedding photographer began during my early college years. I went to school for web design which I still enjoy doing to this day. While taking web design classes we were also required to take a Photoshop class. They would give us cameras to go out and take pictures and bring them into photoshop to do some editing work. I fell in love with the whole photography process from taking photos to editing them. Not long after, I purchased my first DSLR camera. I photographed anything I could; products, families, seniors, newborns… you name it, I did it. But it wasn’t until I photographed my first wedding that I realized where my true love is!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a business owner definitely has not been a smooth road. I have days where I doubt myself. I question if I really have what it takes to be a photographer. Are my photos worth it? Do I have the right personality for this? And I even question myself as a business owner. There are so many logistics that go into being a business owner that have nothing to do with photography. It is an ever-learning process and I think persevering through the tough times has allowed me to be where I am now. And when those tough times come again, I can either choose to give up at that time or come out on the other side even greater. In the end, though, my clients keep me going. I have to remind myself that if my clients love my photos, are consistently recommending me, and keep coming back for my services, I must be doing something right!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a wedding photographer in the DFW area but have traveled all over to capture gorgeous, luxurious weddings. I photograph weddings for the romantic, elegant, modern couple that loves deeply. Being able to show through my photography the love and joy between my couples is my main goal! I am a calm-demeanor, supportive and love-able wedding photographer, yet I know how to take the lead when needed to ensure the wedding day runs smoothly. I am most proud of the couples that I have been able to serve and the kindness they so amazingly demonstrate. I truly believe I have the absolute sweetest couples and they make my job so amazing!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The wedding industry has made some big shifts since covid came along. With all of the things that hit us that we were not entirely prepared for, our mindset going into a wedding day has taken a shift. There are more things both the couple and us as wedding vendors have to consider as a couple books us for their wedding day. Are there things that our couples will be looking for to ensure they stay safe? What are the practices we have in place to keep our business protected? The logistics have definitely taken a shift, as well as more practical situations. We see more intimate ceremonies, which, I have learned, I actually love! As we move forward, I believe there are so many amazing opportunities that we as wedding vendors will face. We have such a great opportunity now to stand out in the way we serve our couples as we really focus on loving on them and giving them our best!
