Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilee Duran.
Hi Emilee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for makeup began the second I first tried it on. After years of practice on myself, I began practicing on my friends and after several inquiries and years later I decided to take a leap of faith and make it into a career. Now I’ve been a full time makeup artist for four years and have never stopped loving what I do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to starting my business was not as easy as it seemed. There was a lot of self doubt and worry in the beginning. A lot of self educating In what it took to run a business, and a lot of trial and error before finding my style as an artist. But never did it change the drive I had to pursue my dream as an mua, just fueled it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work rangers from soft glams, full glams and graphic. My specialty is in soft glams, where I focus on enhancing my clients natural features while still bringing that glam element to the look. What makes me the most proud of my work is being able to make women feel their best and sharing confidence while still feeling themselves in the makeup they’re in.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is to never give up on myself. It’s so easy to get caught up in life and put yourself down at the slightest inconvenience. It’s so important to never lose sight of your end goal and keep pushing until you’ve reached it. The only thing standing in the way of yourself is yourself! So dream big!
