Daily Inspiration: Meet Emily Baxter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Baxter.

Hi Emily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Emily, and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. At an early age, my mother began instilling in me a love for the arts that I believe sparked my creative journey. From the art pieces she collected and displayed in our home to the museums we would go to, she encouraged a connection to the creative and artistic sides of life. And that is what initially led to an interest in interior design. In high school, I got my first taste of the design world when I interned for a local interior designer over the summers. I was just a gopher, but my favorite was when I would organize the sample room. I loved all the colors, patterns, and textures. I attended college at Texas Christian University and received a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. However, after college, I decided that interior design wasn’t for me and spent a couple years in various jobs trying to find the best career path for me. Eventually, that path led to the magical world that is an event planning and my current/dream job at Fauxades. This February, I reached my 6-year anniversary. It is an amazing feeling to be somewhere for this long and work with such an incredible team.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has had a lot of ups and downs, and I have made many mistakes. I am dyslexic with ADD, and my job is hyper multitasking and detail-oriented. I am so fortunate to work in a space that allows mistakes but expects you to learn from them. Our CEO, Kate, has instilled those professional values in us. I personally have struggled with self-doubt and am my hardest critic. If I messed something up, I used to get really down on myself. Kate always believed in me and saw my potential. She has always made it a point to show me all my accomplishments and how much I have grown. This allowed me to grow and become more confident in myself. While doing that, I learned mistakes and challenges are going to happen. You must be ready to change and adapt to whatever gets thrown at you, and that is what makes my job fun and exciting. Not only do I get to design and use my creativity, but I am also a master at problem-solving.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a full-service event design, production, rental, and custom fabrication company. We are located in the DFW metroplex and operate out of a 65,000 square foot warehouse that holds 10,000 event décor items. Everything from bars, lounge furniture, entrances, backdrops. It’s a place to let your imagination go wild and spark inspiration. If you don’t find something in our warehouse, we have a whole fabrication team who can custom-create your idea. Fauxcades has a long-standing partnership with other industry vendors, which allows us to coordinate all our client’s needs and be a one-stop shop for event production. Although I am our senior event coordinator, I’ve assisted and been involved in almost every department of our company. I feel like having knowledge of all sides of our company makes me a well-rounded employee. I have helped the woodshop with customization, loaded into a venue, installed décor, as well as had a few special clients that I was able to design and bring their event to life. We work on everything from small to large social events as well as corporate. The fact that our team truly, all works together to bring our events to life, it what sets us apart. Clients come to us with an idea, and we all sit down to figure out how to make it the most incredible experience they have ever had. The best part of my job is when an install is completed, and I walk the client through the event. Seeing their faces light up and their reactions to the idea they had in their head now in front of them.
