Daily Inspiration: Meet Emmanuel Ogoe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmanuel Ogoe.

Hi Emmanuel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a videographer local to San Antonio, Texas, originally from Houston, Texas. I first got started with photography, as I loved going to downtown areas in cities and taking photos of pretty much anything I can see (cars, buildings, interesting people). A few months into photography, I grew an interest into learning how to make interesting videos that attract people’s attention. I spend most of my time watching YouTube videos, so video creation was always a strong interest of mine.

Today, my passion is making videos for small businesses. Seeing as I had a passion for connecting with people I met throughout the city, I always wanted to work closely with people to highlight their personality and share their lives with the world. For the most part, I learn a lot of my skills through YouTube, but I also learn from my close friends, Brandon Concepcion and Sam Ruiz.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but it has been a great learning process! One of the struggles I’ve faced has definitely been rejection, which I had to learn early on in my journey. The thing about artistic fields is not everyone has the same style, and not everyone will like the same style. Another struggle is getting your name out there. I’ve been doing videography for about a year now, and I’ve learned that offering free content is one of the best things to do when starting off, so you can build your portfolio and gain the trust of your clientele. Another struggle I’ve faced is showing my work on social media. Like a lot of content creators, I am critical on the work that I do, even when I receive compliments from my work. But this year I am learning to push through my doubts and create more content.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My daytime job is a project engineer, but I also do videography work. With that, I specialize in creating videos for small businesses, promoting their craft, and putting their names out on social media. I am proud of the work I’ve done with small businesses so far and the references I’ve gotten from people who’ve seen my work. What sets me apart from others is I like to work closely with businesses, getting detailed video shots of their work so the viewer feels like they are actually there with me.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing other people smile makes me happy. More than making people happy myself, I love to see people of different backgrounds come together and connect with each other and be happy together. With a lot of negativity broadcasted throughout the news and social media, I like to see positivity and connection through society; and if I can be a part of making that happen, I am satisfied.
