Daily Inspiration: Meet Ethan Lartey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Lartey.

Hi Ethan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Ethan Lartey and I am the owner and creative director of GODSENT. I manage all operations of the business/clothing brand. The catalyst that started the brand and movement was from an almost life-ending accident back in January 2020. I fell 3 stories out of my townhome in Virginia, leaving me with a severe wound an inch away from my heart. I truly thank the one and only GOD that I am still here today. Since then, I have devoted my life to the divine craft of storytelling through garments, focusing on the globalization of GODSENT, enveloping and inspiring others to take advantage of life’s true purpose.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. But every single step we take, I get wiser, it is always worth it. Only GOD knows I face obstacles/challenges every step along the way but I always find the beauty in it. From recovering after the accident, then a few months later, having to decide whether to go to college and play football at a very small school in West Virginia I earned a scholarship at or sacrifice that for GODSENT, which was really a baby at the time. Taking the second option, I knew the steps needed to be taken had to be major. Laying the foundation brick by brick. It’s easier said than done. Countless nights, just up studying different designers, brands, and successful people in this life. I still do this till day. There’s no formula or blueprint, you have to make your own unique one from scratch.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love to workout, spend time with family and friends and overall strive to learn in every way and situation. With the movement, I’ve been working on our latest collection “Redemption” off off our SZN3 which is coming out this Summer 2022. That has been in the works for a while now, so i’m excited for the world to see it when it’s finished.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was blessed and fortunate to grow up in the suburbs of Virginia with my parents who are from Ghana, and my two brothers. I was raised within a Christian household where Sundays were strictly for church. I was happy, outgoing, and sociable. I was and am the person anybody can talk to and be friends with. I grew up playing video games and loved sports and movies. Fun fact: I was in a Call of Duty competitive team called “Purify” where I actually took the extra step and learned how to design and put logos and banners together. I took it seriously until freshman year of high school came, and I ditched that for the field. Everything always comes full circle though.
