Daily Inspiration: Meet Giles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giles

Hi GileS, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my senior year of high school.
Really the idea came to life in just a few weeks a friend of a friend invited us to his studio downtown. From that meeting and interaction at the studio I grew to become a fan of myself as well as grow some healthy work relationships.
After about 2 years of solid recording I finally started to release music under my then name, Just Giles. A few years later I transitioned to the name Gile$ in 2015 and really pushed to carve my own lane and bring a feeling not often heard in today’s music. The last name change ,GileS, has stamped me as a household name after years of teaching myself so much. As of 2024 I have 2 full length projects officially 1 is in fact my debut album.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. Especially with me trying to bring back a certain type of feeling with the R&B that I am bringing to the table in this day and age. As a pioneer of NEO 90s R&B, I feel like I’m always pushing myself to help push the genre forward, now at the same time keeping the old feelings fresh. There’s so much that can be added in so much creativity that’s messed out on because people have been afraid to try new things and creative blocks are real, but with the idea that are imitates life I’ve always been able to pull back from past triumph to push forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a R&B man through and through. I see myself as the feature of R&B act for the city and the future. I feel that’s still available to be left to debate right now, one of the things I’m most proud of is putting out my first album (Bae Season 2).
It really took a lot of time to create, I literally did so many more sessions in comparison to my previous works and I think that my work ethic and my ability to design sound the way that I’ve done in this new project has been one of my shining features. I definitely think that my vocal ability and my relatable penmanship are assets and set me apart from would be competition.
