Daily Inspiration: Meet Gunner J. Hardy, Allison Owens, TJ Novak and Justin Hoard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gunner J. Hardy, Allison Owens, TJ Novak and Justin Hoard.

Gunner, Allison, TJ, and Justin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Curl started in 2024 in Dallas, TX with Gunner J. Hardy and TJ Novak. After a year with two other members that left for various reasons they were able to bring in Allison Owens and Justin Hoard into the group. For the last year they have released several songs and a music video, played multiple shows and a few national festivals, and gearing up to release their debut album in 2026.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been the smoothest of roads. Just like with any other band, there have been growing pains, from member changes to the regular day to day struggles of attempting to make a career of music while also getting older (the age range of the Curl members are 25-31). But with every struggle the rewards of getting to release and play meaningful music with friends has made it all worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Curl is an Alternative/Rock band. The thing that sets the band apart is the community of acceptance that the group has started to foster through its message and live show performances. Curl is known for having high energy emotional performances that bleeds off the stage. They sing about the difficulties of getting older, navigating racial and socioeconomic lines, and becoming whole in ones identity. This has led the band to have a tight knit devoted group of listeners and show-goers. The band bounces between genres between all their releases so far and it can be seen in the diverse walks of life their listeners come from.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The best advice would be to create because it feels genuine and keep your head down and invest in the work. All the rest will fall in line when effort is put in. Worrying about creating something you are truly proud of or is from a real place for you will always help you find a group of people who truly connect with it and want to invest in the story you are building.
