Today we’d like to introduce you to Haeven Gibbons.
Hi Haeven, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a diligent and ambitious storyteller, I am the founder of Haev Studios, a storytelling agency that blends digital marketing and PR with powerful narrative development to help social impact leaders grow their reach and deepen their impact. I champion a solutions-oriented approach to storytelling—amplifying narratives that shed light on social justice issues and inspire innovation at the community level.
I graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Spanish and am proud to be an award-winning journalist. I have worked as a reporter for The Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and AM New York, where I covered local government, community issues, and human-interest stories—often spotlighting individuals driving change in their communities.
My commitment to community empowerment extends beyond the newsroom. I have worked in higher education to support low-income and first-generation college students in navigating barriers to access. I also teach English as a Second Language through a local community college and a nonprofit organization.
I launched Haev Studios in 2024 from my desire to combine storytelling with service.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building Haev Studios has been an inspiring venture. Working as a reporter in fast-paced newsrooms sparked my passion for storytelling around social issues such as affordable housing, childcare access, and food insecurity. I became drawn to solutions journalism—not just uncovering problems, but exploring possible answers with the same rigor. When one of my stories inspired a $35,000 donation to a nonprofit serving youth, I saw the true power of narrative and knew I wanted to do more. My work as a case manager and ESL teacher deepened my understanding of community barriers and gave me the confidence to turn that vision into reality.
However, without a background in business, I quickly realized the challenge of building something from scratch. But I couldn’t ignore an important gap: while nonprofits work tirelessly to serve their communities, many lack the time and expertise to craft impactful narratives that drive PR and amplify their mission. Today, a little over a year after launching Haev Studios, I help changemakers elevate brand recognition, foster community involvement, and increase their impact through digital marketing and narrative-driven communications. I started small and gave myself grace—learning everything from invoicing to client outreach—while focusing on delivering projects that produce real, lasting results.
I am grateful for the support of my community and clients who make the journey meaningful. Looking ahead, I plan to grow Haev Studios into a hub for nonprofit support—a place where leaders can access resources, share stories, and collaborate to drive meaningful social change.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My multimedia services—including newsletters, video production, social media campaigns, and press releases—help clients communicate their missions with with creativity, clarity and impact across multiple platforms. I also provide storytelling workshops and media training, empowering organizations to share their stories long-term.
Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to work with some inspiring groups. Highlights include developing The Storehouse Community Center’s end-of-year fundraising story, creating the Alliance of Elite Youth Leadership’s impact report used to share their program with prospective partners, and helping The Samaritan Inn craft a press release that earned coverage on NBC 5 about urgent legislation affecting their operations.
I also manage communications for The Pivot Fund, including producing blog stories, newsletters, and webinars to raise awareness of the organization’s mission to support hyperlocal news outlets serving historically marginalized communities. My stories have been picked up by national outlets and shared by prominent funders, helping amplify community publishers’ impact and promote inclusive local news.
Lastly, at the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, I manage social media and storytelling communications. Our efforts have driven significant results: for example, in July, reach skyrocketed to nearly 10,000 compared to just 878 the previous year, engagement has surpassed 6%—well above the national average of 0.3%—and participation from non-members has increased, showcasing value to sponsors and amplifying the impact of the chamber’s events.
Through Haev Studios, I am committed to helping changemakers and community leaders tell their stories, build connections, and expand their impact one narrative at a time.

Testimonials from my wonderful clients:
“It’s so rewarding to see the newsletter and blog gaining traction. Huge kudos to Haeven—her writing continues to shine. She’s brought such depth, voice, and consistency to our communications, and it’s making a real difference.” – Tracie Powell, Founder & CEO of The Pivot Fund
“I have worked with Haeven over the last several years as she reported on the state of homelessness and has a keen sense of stating the truth in a highly respectable manner and passionate way. I am enjoying continually having the chance to meet up with her on so many different projects for nonprofits! She’s truly making a difference, and I am so proud of the work she is doing.” – Kellie Maynard, Chief Development Officer at The Samaritan Inn
“Our organization was fortunate to work with Haeven. In every project she took on, she approached it with the same care, dedication, and ownership as if it were her own nonprofit. The way Haeven put forth our story helped us reach audiences we would not have otherwise which increased our donations substantially.”
– Jason Hernandez, Founder & Executive Director of La Tiendita
“A city editor once explained to me the key elements for a good reporter: talent and curiosity, of course made the list. But the most important thing, she said, was ‘fire in the belly.’ Haeven doesn’t just have a fire; she’s got an inferno. She is relentless. Her stories are remarkable for their depth and sensitivity. There is a humanity and dignity to Haeven’s writing that sets her work apart. Haeven isn’t going to be a leader of her generation. She already is.” – Jean Marie Brown, Associate Professor of Professional Practice in Journalism at Texas Christian University
“Haeven’s work is creative, thoughtful, and highly focused. Having her on my team has literally saved my sanity, and brought our social media out of 2002 and into something fresh and new. We’ve never seen engagement numbers like we do now under Haeven’s control. She is kind, organized, and on top of it always.”
– Molly Courtright, Events and Community Engagement Director at the McKinney Chamber of Commerce
