Today we’d like to introduce you to Hal Gomez.
Hi Hal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At age 20 I found myself at a crossroads with life. I didn’t like where I was, what I was doing for a living or the direction my life was taking so I sat down & asked myself some tough questions.
Since I was young I was told I should go into barbering but I never really understood why. I mean i’m an artist at heart so when I got on instagram & saw the school I ended up attending start offering a night course I gambled on myself. Little did I know that’s where I would discover my God given purpose.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. My story is probably one for books. I’ve conquered obstacle after obstacle & I continue to do so. I’ve had several close calls with death, been in situations I should have never made it out of but ultimately i’ve truly experienced what it’s like to be chosen. When you’ve seen the things i’ve seen you have no choice but to believe “Wow. That was God at work.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I chose other because i’m more than just one thing. I’m a professional, a creative, a hustler. I’d like to think i’m known for not only my skills in the barbering world but for my heart. I’m the type of person you meet & can’t help but go tell somebody else about…at least that’s what i’ve been told. My energy all together sets me apart from the rest. That’s why I was given the name ‘The Hal Effect.’
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
You know what they say, your network is your net worth. Everyone is different so I find it super important to show up as YOU not as the person you think everyone else wants to receive. Every room I walk into i’m simply just me & that alone has helped me connect with the people for me, in that moment, during that stage of my life. I wear my heart & truthfully my life on my sleeve. I sugarcoat nothing & have humility ensuring that nothing anyone says can bring me down.
