Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayley Hendrick.
Hi Hayley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a second year tattooer, my background is in architecture. I went to auburn university and studied architecture and environmental design. I’ve always been artistic, I was the president of art club at highland park high school. I am the first female to be hired at death or glory, and have now been here almost a year.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is a hard industry to break into as a female— even in 2025. I had many people tell me no or tell me to find a different craft altogether. Eventually I came to Death or Glory and was given a fair shake.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I primarily do Texas traditional tattoos, fineline, Japanese. I paint flash sheets almost daily the old way— with spit, ink and a nib and paintbrush. The only tattoo machines I use are coil machines built by my mentor; owner of Death or Glory, Sam Chamberlain whom opened the shop back in 2007.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Ambition
