Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Thurston.
Hi Hope, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started with a love for photography and storytelling. I’ve always enjoyed finding ways to capture a moment, make something look beautiful, and tell a story through visuals. Over time, that passion evolved beyond photography and into content creation, social media, and digital marketing.
As I became more involved in creating content, I realized I loved the entire process – coming up with ideas, filming, editing, developing campaigns, and figuring out what makes people stop scrolling and connect with a brand. That eventually led me to working professionally in social media and digital marketing, where I’ve had the opportunity to work with and create content for brands across a variety of industries. Through these experiences, I’ve developed skills in content creation, social media management, digital strategy, and brand storytelling across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and more.
Outside of my professional work, I’ve also continued creating content around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I’ve had the opportunity to work with and create content for local DFW businesses, events, and experiences, often simply because I genuinely enjoy discovering new places and sharing them with other people.
Today, I see myself as a content creator and digital storyteller who brings together my background in photography, social media, and marketing. I’m especially passionate about showcasing brands, businesses, and experiences in a way that feels authentic and visually engaging. What started as an interest in photography has grown into something much bigger – a creative career that allows me to tell stories, connect people with brands, and continue building something of my own in the DFW community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been figuring out how to turn a creative passion into something sustainable. When you work in creative fields, there can be a lot of uncertainty – figuring out your niche, building a portfolio, finding opportunities, and learning how to recognize the value of your work.
I’ve also had to evolve along the way. I started with photography, but as social media and digital content continued to grow, I found myself taking on more roles as a content creator and digital marketer. Learning new platforms, keeping up with trends, balancing creativity with strategy, and constantly creating without letting myself burn out have all been part of the journey.
There have definitely been moments where I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction, especially when opportunities didn’t come as quickly as I hoped. But those experiences pushed me to become more adaptable and to stop thinking of my career as having to fit into one specific title. I’m still figuring things out, but I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always look like a straight line. Sometimes it looks like taking what you’ve learned from one chapter and using it to create something completely new.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My creative journey began with photography through my brand, Eyedeal Visuals, where I developed my eye for composition, storytelling, and capturing people and moments in an authentic way. Photography gave me the foundation to understand how to tell stories visually, and that eventually expanded into content creation, social media, and digital marketing.
Today, I’m continuing that creative journey through RoamWithHope, my content platform where I’m building my identity as the “DFW Bestie.” I primarily share my DFW discoveries on TikTok, especially events, things to do, and experiences around the Dallas-Fort Worth area, while also sharing that content on Instagram under the same @RoamWithHope handle. I love exploring the Dallas-Fort Worth area, discovering new places, events, businesses, and experiences, and sharing them with people who are looking for something fun to do. The idea behind the DFW Bestie is simple: I want my content to feel like you have a friend who always knows where to go and what to do.
Through RoamWithHope, I create videos and social content around DFW while bringing my own personality and perspective into the experience. Whether I’m checking out a new local business, attending an event, finding a hidden gem, or showing people something fun happening around the city, I want viewers to feel like they’re exploring with me.
Professionally, I also work in social media and digital marketing, which has allowed me to combine my creative background with strategy and brand storytelling. I’m proud that my journey has evolved from photography into a broader creative career where I can work with brands while also building something of my own.
What sets me apart is that I’m not just creating content that looks good – I want it to make people want to get out, explore, and experience something for themselves. Through RoamWithHope, I’m building a community around that idea and hopefully becoming the friend people turn to when they ask, “Okay, what are we doing this weekend?”
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve learned that mentorship doesn’t always have to come in the form of one person sitting down and teaching you everything. A lot of my growth has come from putting myself out there, meeting people, asking questions, being willing to learn, and paying attention to the people who are doing things I admire.
For me, networking has also been about genuinely building relationships rather than simply looking for opportunities. Whether it’s connecting with other creatives, local business owners, brands, or people I meet through creating content around DFW, I try to lead with authenticity and curiosity.
My biggest advice would be to start before you feel completely ready. Create the thing, introduce yourself, go to the event, send the email, or start the conversation. You never know which connection will turn into an opportunity, collaboration, friendship, or even a lesson that helps shape your next chapter.
I’ve also learned that you don’t necessarily need to wait for someone to give you an opportunity. Sometimes you have to create your own. That mindset has been a big part of my journey from photography with Eyedeal Visuals to social media and now building RoamWithHope and my identity as the DFW Bestie.
