Daily Inspiration: Meet Jared Lindsay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Lindsay

Hi Jared, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Picked up a camera at 19. Made my first money with it at 20. Started shooting weddings at 21 and still to this day.
I have done freelance work for 2 news papers covering lots of different events and assignments – PBR, fires, sports, parades, etc.

My wedding work is very candid and unobtrusive in style and approach.
I even photograph families in the same manner and call this sessions, “Slice of Life”. 100% unposed family photography.
I shoot some music. Take freelance assignments to cover everything from events (The Arts Goggle), to corporate events, to birthday parties.
I do headshots and engagements as well.
I have 3 kids. I am divorced. And love to fly fish.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The need to provide health insurance has been the worst part. I have to maintain a day job just to do so. The needs of my children, 2 with medical complications, have always outweighed the chance to stop working a day job.
So, I book and shoot as much as I can on top of working a full time job.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Weddings, in a very candid style, has been my main work. I love working with clients who desire an unobtrusive, down to earth, hands-off photographer at their wedding. I am a huge extrovert, and can roll with the punches on a wedding day. That’s part of what sets me apart – my loose, moment-seeking style to making photographs.

How do you think about happiness?
Calmness makes me happy. From the type of couples I work with, to camping, to spending time with friends at a museum, or sitting by a firepit. Along with fly fishing.
