Daily Inspiration: Meet Jarryd Branch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarryd Branch

Hi Jarryd, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a musical background. I started doing music as a young age as far as in studios and performing traveling state to state opening for big artist. All through high school and through my adult years I have been in multiple groups who were known in the city. Then I branched off to do my own thing musically not long into that journey I was introduced to Christian Hip Hop. I grew up in church but I’ve never seen people who look like me doing rap music that glorified God so I was interested. It wasn’t a hard transition because of my church background and I wasn’t making crazy vulgar music any way so I took time to grow in God and learn who I was in him. I took my testimony of the things I faced in my life and mixed it with my faith and came up with what I call WHOLEHEARTED music. I feel there is enough people polluting music and I wanna be a change I tell people all the time even if you don’t get God from my music at least get hope. I make relatable music for everyone to enjoy

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No not at all life has humbled me in many ways but musically it has been hard to be seen or heard because of the label that people give me as a Christian Hip Hop artist and they way people view church, Christians, and religion. So I feel I’m placed in a box but I feel like you can’t put God in a box so you can’t put my music in a box God is for everyone and so am I. I think my talent and quality of music I put out gets overlooked by some because these days they want the beef and twerk music. When deep down people are really out here battling real life issues that we cover up with our work life, partying, relationships, drugs or whatever your vise is

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an artist. I rap and sing. I make music to inspire others and maybe even free them from things they’re dealing with known and unknown. I’m proud of the change that I made that has been impacting lives in my city from young and old people. I feel like I’m set apart because I actually rap what I live and it’s deeper than music for me I genuinely have a heart for people and God is my foundation with him I can’t lose

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I honestly don’t believe find a real a mentor they find you. So my advice would be to just keep working people are more willing to help when they see your working already. A mentor is someone who puts you under there wing because they see the potential in you. So yea I would just say keep working and be genuine nobody wants to feel used
