Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeffrey Brandon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Brandon.

Hi Jeffrey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Man, it really started in 2014; my dad came to my house with a bag of cameras. He hand me the bag and said I could have them. I didn’t know what I was going to do with two cameras at the time. So, I use to just take photos of the crib and around the neighborhood, I grow up in. It turn from taking photos of random building to portraits of random people to wedding to events. I was at every event I could possibly bring my camera in. Then party promoters started to ask me to come to their events for photos. The connection I made help me get to a lot of places I could never get to.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish! Learn to steer my creative career like a business. I screwed up a lot of business or I didn’t get paid for my gigs. I say to all creatures that they need to learn how to run a business and create at the same time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer. I specialize in portraits and street photography, but I am a fashion designer and editorial photographer. I think I’m known for my New York portraits I make people. I was told that’s the way I capture the people I meet in the street that people like. I can say it’s how much better I’ve gotten in the business part of my creative career. I would say emotions that I am able to get the models comfortable to display in my photographs. To have the model and random people I encounter are themselves in each shot.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I read and collect a lot of photographers’ books and magazines. I read a lot of GQ magazines to get inspiration for my photography. I listen to “Business of Hype” podcasts. I do watch a lot of YouTube photography video to learn to better my photography.
