Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Hill.
Hi Jenn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started my career in the fashion industry over fifteen years ago and segued into the beauty and wellness space 5 years ago. I began to take herbal courses, study meditation, and hone my already extensive knowledge in natural skincare to create a holistic beauty and skincare business called ZENJENN LLC. My latest project is my new children’s book, “Looking for Magic,” which seeks to teach littles that everything they need is always within.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“Looking for Magic” was surprisingly easy. The idea came to me while reading a book to my 5-year-old, Harlow. The words sort of filled up my brain and I wrote them down. I still have that piece of paper I jotted all of the verses down on. Once I transcribed all of the words in my head, I looked at it and thought… that’s pretty good! I put the manuscript together a few months later, sent it out to 4 different publishers, and it got picked up by Mascot Books pretty quickly. This was one of those projects that seemed to flow like water. It was meant to be put out into the world, and so it was!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself a creative in life. I tend to do many different kinds of projects, from natural beauty to fashion events to writing children’s books. I may not be the best Artist or the MOST creative person, but my gift is that I know how to see something through to the end. I get an idea, and I know the steps to take to see it to fruition. I know the people to contact once the idea or project is ready for consumption. If I don’t know how to get something accomplished myself, I know someone that can help along the way, and I am not afraid to put myself out there to do it. I’ve come to realize that is my niche. I know so many very talented creatives, far more talented than me, but don’t know where to begin or how to make something happen. I can get shit done.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success is feeling proud of what you’ve accomplished. Success is completing something you set out to do and accomplished it while exuding kindness, passion, and joy! In order to have success you have to start with an aim or goal… my goal is always to create something beautiful and meaningful. My hope is that my new children’s book “Looking for Magic”inspires the littles and adults that read it.
