Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wax
Hi Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am the face behind the business and camera for J L Glamour. I am a published wedding photographer from Texas, (to be more exact I was born in Grand Prairie and raised in Justin). I started photography back in college, it was a fun elective to take while going for my bachelor’s in business at Middle Tennessee State University. Since my first all nighter in the dark room developing my own film, I fell in love with the art. Over the next few years, I started targeting my interest more toward photography and learned more about it. I wanted to know it all. Photography is so amazing and beautiful, and I wanted to be a part of it.
In 2011 I decided to take my photography to a whole new level, and I opened my own business. Back then I was shooting with my mom and under the name Forget Me Not Photography, it was a mouth full, I know. After a year of shooting seniors and families, I wanted to test my skills and do more. I changed the name to J L Glamour, and I went on the hunt to further my business and find my style. I shot my first wedding in 2015, it was a blast, and I loved every minute of it. I started taking classes that were designed around weddings and a few months later I had booked a wedding for every single month that year.
Photography has become the way I express myself. It is a way for me to show you the world through my eyes, and now, I get to share that vision with my bride and grooms every day. I just love the magic in it all, and I love being a part of it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So, I am a wedding and portrait photographer that specializes in photography with the lighter/true to color editing style. When I photograph, I like to keep all of the details in my photos. I think even the tiniest details are important. My approach is a traditional one, I like to see emotion in my photos rather than the strict posing style.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was the youngest of three children. I loved hanging out with my big brother and trying to do the things that he does. From go carting to roller blading, if I could be outside, that is where I was. But don’t get me wrong, I was also a book nerd, I love reading. One of my favorite series growing up was Sweet Valley High and then from there I fell in love with rom-com series.
