Daily Inspiration: Meet Josh Jaccard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Jaccard.

Hi Josh, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I was born in to a musical family. Both my father and step father were professional musicans and both played in bands. My father is a singer and piano player. I started playing guitar pretty young, eleven or twelve. My step father gave me a few lessons, but I am self taught otherwise. I started performing when I was in middle school at talent shows and high school parties. My passion has always been RocknRoll. The Beatles and Elvis are all my heros and influences. I had been playing weekend gigs for the past twenty years, solo acoustic and in various cover bands. In 2018 I decided to pursue music full time. I started a solo one man band act and played all over Dallas and DFW really hoaning my craft. I got my start really in Deep Ellum playing at various dives and resturants. In later years I have developed my own sound and style and following. I play now over 200 shows a year solo and with a touring tribute band “The Seger System, the ultimate Bob Seger tribute.”
I play 200 shows a year, big, small, from Shiner, Tx to Minneapolis, MN.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been an ever evolving road. I have learned something along the way almost constantly. I feel I have paid dues. I go back to the older days of playing with a few cover bands where I was very young in a band with guys who had been in the busniess for much longer than me. I have used every opportunity that has come my way. I started playing on peoples back porches for food and played for tips. The biggest challange has been representation and booking gigs. I am almost completely self promoted and booked. The tribute band has a manger and I use booking agents from time to time. But I am the main person who books my show. I drive from Dallas to Nacadogches to Houston and San Antonio. I have found that hard work and never saying no will get you far in this busniess. I felt that I would never turn down a gig unless too busy to commit.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a muscian and entertainer. I started out pursuing a band and eventually came to the idea of being a solo artist. I have played in and around the DFW area for over 10 years. I play small clubs, divebars, restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries, as well as private parties and events. I have a OneMan band show where I sing, play guitar and harmonica. I sing hits from the 1960s,70s,80s and 90s. of all genres. After years of being a working solo musican I have been invited to be apart of a natianol touring tribute band. The band performs the music of Bob Seger. We have performed all over the Texasand nationally in Minnisota, Tenessee, Missippi and Oklahoma respectivly.
