Daily Inspiration: Meet Joslynn Broughton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joslynn Broughton.

Hi Joslynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My passion for starting my business occurred from my style of fashion and my ability to create art. Personally, growing up in the Midwest of Racine, Wisconsin the go to shoe was the all-white AF1’s known as G fazos. As years went by of me just drawing for fun I stopped when I went off to college but the thought of me being a creator in life never left my mind. In late 2020 I finally started my shoe customization business known as Caprice Custom. I was still hesitant but I took a leap of faith and believed in my vision and to showcase my designs, I started on shoes I wear, customized those, and shared them via social media. I gained some support and help in that process. I began back posting myself and showing my fashion choices with my shoes which led me to start action of creating my clothing line known as CapRevive.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve faced many struggles along with starting these businesses and I know I will still encounter obstacles along the way. I’m still in the works of launching the clothing aspect side and still learning new ways to continue building on customizing shoes. I’ve learned you have to take risks in life to be the boss you want to be and consistency will play a big part. I struggled for years with being discouraged on if this was the right move to make and if it would get recognition in a positive way. I’ve researched so much, wrote, learned, and had a plan but was nervous for a while.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I customize/paint shoes and pants, currently in the works of launching a clothing line which will consist of shirts, hats, and socks starting off. I’m most proud of taking the necessary step to actually go after what I want to do in life and going through all the struggles that tried to stop me along the way. My ability to be a fast learner and push through different things, I would say that’s what sets me apart. I learn and try everything on my own, from behind the scenes to the basics.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see everything I started taking a full-on expansion. I see a shop where I’m able to combine each business but not necessarily combine just pair so it’ll all be a one-stop shop. Many changes will take place, from new inventory to learning new ways to add new techniques to my practices.
