Daily Inspiration: Meet Julie Kennedy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Kennedy

Hi Julie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Almost 30 years ago, I was in undergraduate nursing school at TCU, and was diagnosed with discoid lupus. The medication that I was given made me more sick than discoid lupus itself. I knew that there had to be a better way! I began to research natural treatments to my autoimmune issue. Over the past almost 30 years, I have naturally treated myself through depression, anxiety, mold toxicity, other autoimmune issues, hypothyroidism, and allergies. It is my mission to give back to others and help them heal in a more holistic way!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It is definitely not been easy! I didn’t know about functional medicine until 12 years ago. I have pieced together providers and treatments plans to work torwards healing. As a functional medicine provider, I now have a better foundation to help others. I am constantly learning and growing!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a functional medicine nurse practitioner and integrative nutrition health coach. I am passionate about helping others with autoimmune issues, gut health, mold toxicity, mental health issues, and longevity. I am most proud of finishing my doctorate while working, going through health issues, and getting a divorce. What sets me apart is that I have been through the personal and physical issues that I focus on in my practice. That cannot be taught in a book, only through experience.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by measuring the number of people that get well in my practice. With the right treatments and hard working patients, I see people heal daily! It is amazing to see how powerful the body is with healing!
