Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Harris.
Hi Justin, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I enlisted in the United States Army in October 2002 to travel the world and help pay for college. I experienced two combat tours to Iraq, helped the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and achieved Fire Direction Center NCOIC during my six-year military enlistment. Upon leaving the military with an Honorable discharge, I graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas where I received a BS in Business Management. I never forgot the core values the US Army instilled in me as a young leader. Loyalty, Duty Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage are core principles of my leadership and have been the backbone of my success. I now have 15 years of experience in sales and advertising, commercial real estate, and financial services. I am currently General Manager at HiOperator. I am dedicated to providing top-tier results for our clients by managing daily operations, ensuring a high level of customer service, and developing/implementing company strategies.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The transition from the US Army was quite a struggle at first. I was diagnosed with PTSD from the events during my tours in Iraq, which made my adjustment quite difficult. After dedicating several years to a structured military life, it was difficult to come home and adjust to a civilian life . PTSD symptoms can be exacerbated during times of change and uncertainty, which many veterans experience as they rejoin civilian life and move on from their time in the military. I am lucky to have had the support of my amazing family and friends during that challenging period. I now work with organizations such as Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Peer Advisors Veteran Education (P.A.V.E.), and Wounded Warriors Project (WWP)to help veterans learn from my experience while positively impacting their lives.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As General Manager at HiOperator, I am responsible for improving efficiency and increasing departmental profits while managing the company’s overall day-to-day operations. I specialize in increasing business profitability by recruiting, onboarding, and training high-performing employees to achieve goals, profitability, market share, and business plan objectives. I am known for being a servant leader who motivates and trains staff to perform at an optimal level. I have an unrelenting desire for perfection and achievement at a high level. I believe this drive sets me apart from the pack. I am most proud to have served my country and the life my wife and I have created for our family.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite app is Audible. I am a big believer in continuous personal development. I have a goal of listening to at least one audiobook every month.
