Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Bonilla.
Hi Kenneth , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was in middle school I have been highly interested in taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything I’d find cool honestly. When I got to high school is when I really started taking more pictures, and eventually people started noticing that I would take really nice pictures. I would post cool pictures on my Instagram stories and many people would like them, even people I didn’t really know would compliment them or even tell me that they liked my pictures. In 2023 I was working in wireless and it was going good until I got laid off in November. December of that year I finally stopped procrastinating and got myself a much awaited professional camera, something that I had been wanting for the longest. January of 2024 I started my brand “Rule Your World”. I’ve always been infatuated with the concept of self improvement through photography. The whole idea of my brand is to help motivate the audience to rule ‘their’ world. I want to encapsulate the idea of taking control of your life, making mistakes and learning from them, and to enjoy this ride we call life. On my page I also like to casually post photographs I capture on days that I go out, it could be anything I find worth taking a picture of. These days I work a full time job so it’s a little hard going out there and capturing some shots, but I’m trying to do better about it this year!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I had gotten laid off from my job late 2023 and most of 2024 it was extremely hard finding a stable job. I had a short career in roofing sales, I learned quite a lot but I was unable to blossom in that business. Additionally, I’m debating going to university to study engineering, I’m thinking mechanical. I’ll see what the future holds for me!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an apprentice electrician at the moment. I started in this field August of 2024 and I’ve learned many things since that time. In residential work I know how to wire houses, run underground services before rough ins, replace/install plug receptacles and switches. In commercial I know how to bend EMT pipe (still room for improvement), as well as underground services since most, if not all, commercial buildings require underground servicing. I’m still learning as each day goes by. Something I’m most proud of is probably when I first wired a room entirely by myself when I initially started in this line of work. What sets me apart from others is that I’m fluent in English and Spanish, I am motivated to learn the most I can and that I’m willing to do the best work I can.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when my grandpa visited in 2011 and told my brothers and I scary stories he’s experienced in his life in his home country of El Salvador, definitely an amazing memory.
