Today we’d like to introduce you to Khatera DeGrate.
Hi Khatera, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I first studied fashion design in the 11th grade, then attended a few classes after graduation in 2015. While taking fashion design in college, I seized the opportunity to walk and design for fashion shows on and off campus. After taking many risks, I took more risks like photoshoots, competitions, face-to-face self-promotion, networking events, etc. Staying true to myself and building meaningful connections is how I got to where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been smooth, but it also has its bumps. Some of the struggles along the way were anxiety, creative blocks, trial and error, and consistency.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a fashion designer, and I specialize in custom clothing and tailoring. I am known for my talent of making clothes, and also wearing my own clothing after designing them. I am most proud of how ambitious I am and how I never give up on something I want.
What sets me apart from others is my unique name, creativity, work ethic, and style.
