Daily Inspiration: Meet Kimberley Yee McCloud

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Yee McCloud.

Hi Kimberley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was lucky to grow up in a multigenerational household where food was a significant part of our lives. My grandma would have homemade Taiwanese food on our table every day. My dad opened up a dim sum restaurant. My mom taught me the importance of self sufficiency by way of being able to cook. I had a passport before I could even walk because my family enjoyed traveling to places with good food. I learned to appreciate cuisines from all over at such a young age, and my curiosity has never wavered.

Fast forward to college – I got my first full time job in the esports industry. I ended up working in social media and community for over 4 years in gaming, which gave me opportunities to learn photography and content creation. Once I left esports, I needed a creative outlet. I’ve been taking photos and videos of my food/travels for as long as I can remember, so turning these things into digestible content seemed like a worthy concept.

I began my account @kimfeasts in September of 2023. I cringed at the sound of my voice for at least an entire calendar year. But I never stopped. Eventually, I became much more comfortable in front of a camera, speaking on my experiences, and embracing content creation. My biggest supporter has been my husband/cameraman who has rooted me on from the very beginning.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Finding my style as a content creator and not selling myself short. It helps to have a community of other content creators that you look up to for guidance and inspiration

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a food and travel content creator based in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. I have a background in esports social media and event photography which has helped me as a creator in unique ways.

I enjoy highlighting local businesses and good eats everywhere I go. I also love aviation and reviewing meals I have at airport lounges as well as planes.

I am proud to have been able to work with so many restaurants and organizations that I respect.

What sets me apart from others is really up to the viewer. There are so many talented and incredible creators in this area, that I’m just grateful to anyone who gives me their time to watch my content.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that the DFW area has such an immensely diverse selection of restaurants that are competitive to larger metro areas that might be more known for their food scenes. We are so lucky to have so many strong options for different types of cuisines

What I like least – it takes 30-45min to drive anywhere and downtown Dallas drivers drive like they have absolutely nothing to lose
