Today we’d like to introduce you to Kisha Thompson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been a licensed Realtor since the year 2004. Real Estate is a constant evolving industry, it has its peaks and valleys. I knew in order to be competitive and remain relevant through the economical downtimes, I had to find an area of the business that was untapped and underserved. In the year 2016, I changed the trajectory of my approach to real estate. I began to focus on helping families who were in jeopardy of losing their homes to a foreclosure, delinquent property taxes, costly repairs, or a reverse mortgage.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Changing courses in real estate can be very challenging and risky. I had to rebrand myself, rebrand my image, and pivot my clientele. I had to change the public’s perception of me and find creative ways to tap into my new niche. Helping families who are about to lose their home is very different than helping someone buy a home. There is a level of trust that has to be established and a level of expertise that I had to acquire in order to be effective in helping people who are going through a difficult time in their lives.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from others in my industry is the fact that I cater to the needs of people who are grieving the possible loss of their homes. At times, I have to wear many hats; I’ve been a mediator for feuding families, a voice of hope to those who can’t see a way out, a voice of reason for those who have no reasoning, and a caring and trusted advisor to those who don’t know where to turn for help. I am most proud that I’ve been able to successfully transition my business and make an impactful difference in the lives of people who had given up.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People may be surprised about the treacherous and horrific situations that I’ve been in. I’m always very dressed up, and I love wearing high-heeled shoes. Recently, I had to go view a vacant property and stumbled upon the carcass of a dead animal. The whole while, I was dressed to the nines. People don’t realize how in-trenched I get in this business, it looks glamours but at times it can very gory.
